WHAT TO KNOW
• The 20th-ranked Babson men's golf team travels to Williamsburg, Va., for its final 54-hole tournament of the season on the Gold Course at Golden Horseshoe Golf Club.
• The 21-team field will play 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday on one of the top public courses in America, a 6,522-yard, par 71 designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr.
ABOUT THE BEAVERS
• No. 20 Babson is coming off one of its best performances of the season as it posted a 54-hole total of 13-under 851 to finish 10th at the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational back on March 22.
• Senior
Colin Fowler shot 70-69-72 to tie for 17th place at 5-under, junior
Jack Berry closed with a 4-under 68 to finish the tournament in a tie for 29th position at 3-under and sophomore
Aman Vantipalli opened with a 6-under 66 and posted a 2-under total of 214 to grab a share of 34th place as the Beavers finished under par as a team in all three rounds.
• Vantipalli, who owns four top-35 finishes on the year, and Berry, who has finished under par six times in 17 rounds, are tied for first on the team with a 73.65 scoring average, Fowler (74.41) owns four top-20 finishes in six tournaments and senior
Shane Quinn shot 72-72-71 at Jekyll Island to lower his scoring average to 74.67 in nine rounds this season.
• Sophomore
Chad Tordone (76.24) has one top-20 showing in 17 rounds on the year for the Green and White, which boasts a 294.94 team scoring average.
BEAVER BITES
• Quinn recorded a hole-in-one on the 182-year par 3 sixth hole in his final round of the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational.
• Fowler, Berry and Quinn all recorded the lowest 54-hole scores of their respective careers and the Beavers' 54-hole team score of 851 is their lowest since at least 2019.
• Fowler led 150 players at the Jekyll Island Collegiate in par 5 scoring at 11-under, Quinn was first in the field in par 3 scoring at 2-under and Berry tied for fourth in par 4 scoring at 5-under.
• At least one Babson player has finished under par in nine of 17 rounds this season.
• Babson has finished with a team score of 293 or better six times on the year.
RETURN TO THE GOLDEN HORSESHOE
• Although no one on Babson's current roster has competed at Golden Horseshoe GC, head coach
Jeff Page led the Beavers to a second-place on the Gold Course at the 2019 Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Championship.
• The Green and White posted rounds of 315-300-298 to finish one shot behind York (Pa.) with a 54-hole total of 913.
• Nicholas Gianelos '22 posted the low round of the tournament for Babson with a 1-over 72 on day two.
RISING IN THE RANKINGS
• In addition to re-entering the Bushnell Golfweek Division III coaches' poll, Babson also moved up 11 spots to 22nd in the Scoreboard Division III rankings thanks to its strong showing at the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational.
• Berry (75th), Vantipalli (106th), Fowler (136th) and Quinn (147th) give the Beavers four players ranked among the top 150 nationally, and all four are currently ranked among the top 10 in Region I.
POSTSEASON PUSH
• Thanks to its performance in Jekyll Island and moving up in the Scoreboard rankings, Babson has played itself back into contention for May's Division III Championship.
• The Beavers, who are fighting for one of nine at-large bids to the championship, will likely need to play themselves inside the top 20 as the final at-large selection cut line came at No. 15 last season and at No. 17 in 2024.
ABOUT THE FIELD
• The Sam Snead Collegiate's 21-team field features 14 squads that are currently ranked among the top 50 in Division III, highlighted by No. 2 Carnegie Mellon and No. 3 Methodist.
• No. 13 Kenyon and No. 12 Piedmont finished just ahead of the Beavers at the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational, while No. 17 Lynchburg, No. 28 Christopher Newport, No. 45 Hampden-Sydney, No. 48 Shenandoah and No. 54 Greensboro all placed among the top 20 at the event.
