NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass.— The Babson College men's track & field team won two events and registered five Division III New England Regional provisional qualifying performances at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Corsair Classic Friday evening and Saturday afternoon at the UMD Track & Field Complex.
The Beavers captured one event in the meet each day as junior
Jonathan Hanscom (Hadley, Mass.) took first place in the 10,000 meters Friday night with a NED3 regional provisional qualifying time of 32:39.40, and the Babson quartet of first-year
Cameron Mehallo (Lafayette Hill, Pa.), junior
Niko Manolakos (Shrewsbury, Mass.), and sophomores
Jackson Adams (Norwell, Mass.) and
Dominic Smith (Aspen, Colo.) crossed the finish line in first place with a time of 3:30.09 in the 4x400-meter relay on Saturday afternoon.
The Green and White had strong showings in the hurdle events. Adams crossed the line in second place in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 55.82 seconds, which is the second-fastest time in program history and an automatic regional qualifying time, while Mehallo was fourth in 57.20 seconds and sophomore
Stratton Seymour (Merrimac, Mass.) was eighth in 1:00.68. First-year
Brady Kirtland (San Diego, Calif.) was runner-up in the 110-meter hurdles in 15.87 seconds, and classmate
Boston Thomas (Kailua, Hawaii) was fifth in a NED3 provisional qualifying time of 16.22.
Junior
Chris McDonough (North Andover, Mass.) finished third in the 100 meters in a regional provisional qualifying time of 10.99 seconds, ahead of seventh-place sophomore
Timothy Kelm (Eliot, Maine), who crossed the line in 11.38. Smith finished second in the 400 meters in a regional provisional qualifying time 51.08 second and ninth in the 200 meters in 23.17.
Junior
Brian Gall (Norwalk, Conn.) finished runner-up in the 5000 meters in a time of 15:48.01, while first-year
Connor Andrews (Wrightsville Beach, N.C.) was fifth in 16:12.58. Manolakos placed fifth in the 800 meters in 2:04.67, and sophomore
Brian Ronayne (Reading, Mass.) was ninth in the 1500 meters in 4:13.61.
The top performances in field event were achieved by sophomore
Aithan Bezanson (Danvers, Mass.), who placed sixth in the javelin with a throw of 157-feet, and senior
Joseph Addotta (Ridgefield, Conn.), who was eighth in the discus with a mark of 130-feet, 10-inches.
The Beavers will be back in action next Saturday at the Coast Guard Invitational in New London, Conn.
