SERIES HISTORY
vs. Smith

• Babson is 28-13 all-time versus the Bears in a series that dates back to 1987.
• The Beavers have won 22 consecutive games in the series since 2001 by an average of more than 11 goals per game. 
• The Green and White have win 12 in a row over Smith on MacDowell Field since the Bears defeated the Beavers 9-8 in the NEWMAC Tournament quarterfinals in 2001.
vs. Middlebury
• Babson is 1-7 all-time against Middlebury in a series that dates back to 2009.
• The Beavers have dropped six in a row in the series since defeating the Panthers at home back in 2010.
• The Green and White are 1-2 against Middlebury at MacDowell Field.

LAST MEETING
vs. Smith

Amelia Novitch '25 (3g, 3a) and Kathryn Blake '25 (2g, 3a) combined for 11 points to help No. 13 IWLCA/No. 16 USA Lacrosse Babson defeat Smith, 17-11, on March 22, 2025 in Northampton. 
Clare Connolly '25 scored three times and led all players with 13 draw controls, Ellie Hilsabeck M'25, Cameron Rabenold '25 and Solana Fahey '25 each scored twice, Eileen Manning M'25 recorded two caused turnovers and the trio of Kathleen Murphy '25 and juniors Morgan McGahan and Valentina Erigoyen combined for nine saves in the win. 
• Junior Kyra Hawk scored five goals, Sadie Tschider '25 tallied three times and senior Caroline Sanders dished out seven assists for the Bears. Sophomore Siena Ferrucci tied for game-high honors with two caused turnovers and senior Brooke Testa made seven saves in 45 minutes of action in goal.
vs. Middlebury
• Murphy made a career-high 15 saves but No. 14 IWLCA/No. 18 USA Lacrosse Babson suffered a 17-6 loss at No. 1 USILA/No. 1 USA Lacrosse Middlebury in the season opener on March 4, 2025, at Peter Kohn Field.
• Blake scored twice, Novitch recorded a goal and an assist, and Hilsabeck, Connolly and Jessica Evans '25 each scored once for the Beavers. Connolly led all players with six draw controls, Cameron Rabenold '25 had two caused turnovers and Murphy scooped up a game-high four ground balls in the loss. 
• Hope Shue '25 led all players with four goals and two assists for six points, senior Skylar Lach scored three times, and senior Caroline Adams and Burdine Atherton '25 both contributed a goal and three assists for the Panthers. Adams also finished with four draws, junior Kate Motley had two caused turnovers and Gina Driscoll '25 finished with three of the team's six saves in the win. 

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
• Babson (4-2, 1-1 NEWMAC), ranked 18th by USA Lacrosse Magazine and receiving votes in the IWLCA Division III poll, is coming off an 18-3 conference victory over Wellesley on Wednesday at MacDowell Field.
• Senior Lilly Bedard (4g, 2a) and first-year Hailey Murray (4g) combined for 10 points and 11 different players registered at least one point for the Beavers. First-year Grace Rooney tallied a season-high three goals, junior Jen Austin contributed a goal and two assists, and sophomore Hailey Ramundo and first-year Ellie Schiller each notched their first career goal in the victory. Sophomore Courtney Laden grabbed a team-high five draw controls, and the three Beaver goalies combined for seven saves in net for the Green and White.
• Bedard (12-12-24) is ranked sixth in the NEWMAC in assists and 10th in points, and first-year Jenna Wong (15-1-16) leads the team in goals. Junior Jen Austin (6-7-13) is second on the team in assists and grad student Bella Kehoe (7-2-9) is third on the team in goals. Laden (22) and first-year Allie Collins (10) lead the team in draw controls, and Laden (12 CT, 13 GB) and junior Claire Jones (10 CT, 12 GB) are among the league leaders in caused turnovers.
• McGahan (7.65 GAA, .458 sv. pct.) is second in the NEWMAC in goals against average and sixth in save percentage.

SCOUTING THE BEARS
• Smith (7-3, 3-0 NEWMAC) remained unbeaten in conference play with a 13-9 victory over Wheaton on Wednesday in Northampton.
• Hawk and sophomore Layna Fitzgerald led the Bears with six goals apiece and first-year Brooke Everson tallied a goal and an assist. Sanders grabbed nine draw controls and long with assists, senior Yasmin Grant caused two turnovers, and Everson (4), Hawk (3) and sophomore Adelia Bandsma (3) combined for 10 ground balls. Testa and senior Shannon Houtenville combined for five saves in goal in the win.
• Hawk (42-5-47) leads the NEWMAC and ranks eighth in Division III in goals, and Sanders (20-11-31) and Fitzgerald (20-1-21) are second on the team in scoring. Sanders (48 DC) is third in the league in draw controls and leads the team with 13 caused turnovers and 22 ground balls.
• Testa has posted an 10.79 goals against average and a .452 save percentage with 57 saves in nine starts between the pipes.

SCOUTING THE PANTHERS
• No. 1 Middlebury (8-0, 4-0 NESCAC) brings its 13-game unbeaten record since last year into Saturday's game at No. 3 Tufts before coming to Babson on Sunday.
• Adams (6g, 1a) led the Panthers in scoring in Tuesday's 13-6 victory at No. 20 Chicago while senior Haley Hamilton (4g) and sophomore Maeve Lee (3g) combined for seven goals. Adams (9) and junior Lucy Bishop (7) combined for 16 draw controls, senior Caroline Messer caused three turnovers and scooped up five ground balls, and sophomore Macy Sweeny (2 CT, 4 GB) and senior Lauren Giuriceo (2 CT, 3 GB) were also strong defenders. Junior Elizabeth Savage (1) and first-year Annie Spring (3) combined for four saves in the Panther goal.
• Adams (26-14-40) and Hamilton (32-3-34) are among the NESCAC leaders in scoring, and Lach (12-11-23) and Lee (14-2-16) are also solid offensive contributors. Adams (58) and Bishop (49) are both formidable on controlling draws, and Messer (15 CT, 16 GB) and Bishop (10 CT, 12 GB) are strong defenders.
• Savage (4.17 GAA, .467 vs. pct.) has started all eight games and is second in Division III in goals against average, while Spring (4.00 GAA, .600 vs. pct.) has been impressive in six appearances off the bench.

AN EARLY LOOK
• There's a three-way tie atop the NEWMAC standings in the early going with MIT, Coast Guard and Smith all sporting 3-0 conference records.
• Babson and Springfield are tied for fourth at 1-1, Wheaton, Salve Regina, Wellesley and Mount Holyoke are all 1-2.

SUCCESS IN THE NEWMAC 
• Babson has won 28 of its last 29 NEWMAC regular season games going back to 2023 and is 37-3 in regular season conference games dating back to 2022.
• The Beavers have finished in the top two in the NEWMAC regular season race in the last eight full seasons going back to 2016.

BABSON VS. THE NESCAC
• Sunday's contest is the first of two Babson games this season against schools from the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC). The Beavers will also host Bowdoin on April 14.
• Babson has produced a victory against the NESCAC in three of the last four seasons, defeating Williams 13-12 in 2022, taking down No. 13 Trinity, 16-7, in 2024, and edging Bowdoin last season, 12-10.

MIGHTY MACDOWELL
• The Beavers are 3-0 at MacDowell Field this season, outscoring the opponents 48-13, and are 18-2 at home since the beginning of the 2024 season.
• Babson outscored its opponents 116-69 at home last spring and scored at least 14 goals in six of the seven outings.

CONSISTENT PLAY 
• Bedard has at least two points in all six games this season and at least three points in five of the six.
• Wong has scored in all six outings this spring and has multi-point performances in four of the six.
• Laden has collected at least one ground ball and one draw control against all six opponents this spring, and one caused turnover against five of the six.

BEAVER BITES
• Babson has captured more draw controls in four of the six games and tied the other team in one.
• The Green and White have outshot their opponents this season 169-111, including 123-83 in shots on goal, while outscoring the other team 69-42.
• The Beavers have scooped up more ground balls than the opponents in five of six outings this spring.

NUMBERS TO KNOW
• The Green and White have gone 30-0 over the past three seasons when leading at halftime.
• Babson is 17-0 since last season and 43-1 over the last four seasons when scoring at least 12 goals.
• The Beavers are 4-0 this season and 28-2 going back to 2024 when winning more draws than its opponents.
