Fallon, Coach Rice Earn Major Honors as Four from Men’s Ice Hockey Land on All-LEC Team

Fallon named Player of the Year, Coach Rice Receives Coach of the Year Nod

PROVIDENCE, R.I.— Babson College junior Jimmy Fallon (Milton, Mass.) was named Player of the Year, head coach Jamie Rice '90 was voted Coach of the Year, and four members of the men's ice hockey team received All-Conference recognition when the Little East Conference (LEC) announced its post-season awards on Tuesday afternoon.

Fallon represented Babson with an All-Conference First Team selection, while seniors Charlie Andriole (Branford, Conn.) and Nate Mueller (Rogers, Minn.) and sophomore Evan Brown (Little Silver, N.J.) earned Second Team honors. Rice was recognized as conference coach of the year for the fourth time in his career while the four student-athletes all received post-season honors for the first time in their respective careers.

Fallon earned All-Conference recognition after playing in all 27 games and leading the team and tying for third in the Little East in scoring with 19 goals and 15 assists for 34 points. He was second in the league in goals, tied for the LEC lead with four game-winning goals and tied for second with three hat tricks. The left wing finished 10th in Division III in goals per game (0.70), 25th in points per game (1.26), and ninth in game-winning goals. He tallied at least one point in 20 games and produced eight multi-point games with hat tricks in wins over Norwich, Southern Maine and UMass Dartmouth.

A veteran of 74 career games for the Beavers, Fallon has scored 28 goals and added 26 assists for 54 points, including seven power play goals and four game-winning goals.

Andriole earned his first All-Conference selection on defense for the Beavers. He played in all 27 games and tied for fourth on the team in scoring with 18 points on eight goals and 10 assists, including three power play goals and one game-winner, while finishing second on the team with 27 blocked shots. He had at least one point in 13 games and scored two goals in wins against both Williams and Elmira.

A veteran of 106 games for the Beavers, Andriole scored 12 goals to go along with 32 assists for 44 points, including five power play goals and two game-winners. Going back to 2001-02, he is tied for eighth in program history in scoring by a defenseman.

Mueller received his first All-Conference selection after an outstanding season in goal for the Green and White. He registered a 15-4-2 record in 21 starts with a 1.88 goals against average and a .925 save percentage with 479 saves and one shutout. He led the LEC in GAA and finished second in save percentage while ending up ninth in Division III in goals against average, 13th in goalie winning percentage (76.2), and 29th in save percentage. In the Babson single-season record book, he ranks ninth in GAA, sixth in winning percentage and tied for eighth in wins.

A veteran of 53 career games between the pipes, Mueller finished with a 32-18-3 record (.632) with a 2.29 GAA and a .920 save percentage with 1,396 saves and three shutouts. He ranks sixth in program history in both career GAA and save percentage.

Brown earns his first All-NEHC selection following a strong season for the Beavers after transferring from Skidmore. The right winger played in all 27 games and finished second on the team in scoring with 32 points, leading the squad with 23 assists and tying for second with nine goals. He finished second in the Little East in assists and tied for fifth in points, and ranked 16th in Division III in assists per game (0.85). He opened the season with a seven-game point streak, later added a 10-game point streak and finished with at least one point in 20 games.

Brown joined the Beavers this season after one year at Skidmore, where he scored 10 goals and added 17 assists for a team-high 27 points and earned New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) second team and All-Rookie team honors.

Now in his 21st season, Rice guided the 12th-ranked Beavers to a 20-5-2 overall record and the second seed in the inaugural LEC tournament with a 14-3-2 regular season conference record. The Green and White advanced to the conference championship game for the 11th time in Rice's tenure, and produced four All-Conference selections, the most since five players were honored in 2020. Rice earned his 350th career victory last month and now ranks 10th in victories among active Division III coaches with a career mark of 354-180-51 (.649).
