Three from Men's Ice Hockey Honored by New England Hockey Writers Association

Rice Named Co-Coach of the Year, While Andriole and Fallon Recognized as Division II-III All-Stars

BABSON PARK, Mass.—Babson College Boxer-Rice Head Men's Ice Hockey Coach Jamie Rice '92 was selected as the Co-Coach of the Year and senior Charlie Andriole (Branford, Conn.) and junior Jimmy Fallon (Milton, Mass.) were both named to the all-star team when the New England Hockey Writers Association announced its annual Division II-III awards on Friday.

Andriole and Fallon were among 20 players selected as Division II-III All-Stars, while Rice shared coach of the year honors with Dave McCauley of Anna Maria College.

Rice, who was tabbed as the Little East Conference Coach of the Year back in March, led the Beavers to an overall record of 20-5-2 and a spot in the league's inaugural championship game this past winter. His squad ranked ninth in Division III on the power play at 26.6 percent, 10th in scoring defense allowing 2.07 goals and 12th in scoring margin (1.63). Under Rice's tutelage, Babson ended the season ranked among the top 20 in Division III in scoring defense for the 12th time since taking over the program prior to the 2004-05 campaign.

A four-time conference coach of the year and four-time Edward Jeremiah Award finalist, Rice was selected as the New England Hockey Writers Association Division II-III Coach of the Year for the first time since 2014. His teams have now won at least 17 games on 13 occasions during his 22-year tenure and reached the conference tournament final for the 12th time in his career.

One of seven defensemen to earn a spot on the New England Hockey Writers Association Division II-III All-Star team, Andriole put together the best season of his career this past winter, producing a career-high eight goals to go along with 10 assists for a career-best 18 points in 27 games. He finished first on the team among defensemen in scoring, was second on the squad with three power play goals and led the Little East with a +30 rating on the way to earning all-conference second team honors.

Andriole played in 106 career games over four seasons for the Beavers and finished his career with 12 goals and 32 assists for 44 points.

Fallon's selection to the New England Hockey Writers Association Division II-III All-Star team caps a terrific season that saw him be selected as the LEC Player of the Year and as a finalist for the prestigious Joe Concannon Award before earning a spot on the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) All-America East third team last week. He led the Green and White in scoring with career highs of 19 goals and 15 assists for 34 points, and ranked ninth in Division III in goals per game.

Fallon finished the year with three hat tricks and eight multi-point games while scoring a team-high four power play goals. He ranked second in the Little East in goals and third in points, and his 34 points were the most by a Babson player since Ryan Black '22 finished with 35 during the 2021-22 campaign.

In 74 games over three seasons, Fallon has contributed 28 goals and 26 assists for 54 points.
