Alpine Skiing at the USCSA Eastern Regional Championships

WHAT TO KNOW
• Babson and fellow MacConnell Division rivals Castleton, Clarkson, UConn and UMass will send both its men's and women's teams to Sugarloaf for the USCSA Eastern Regional Championships on Saturday and Sunday.
• The Beavers and their league rivals will compete against the top teams from the Thompson and Reynolds Divisions with the top five schools earning a spot at the USCSA National Championships to be held at Whiteface Mountain just north of Lake Placid, N.Y., March 10-13.
• Sugarloaf will host the regional championships for the fifth year in a row and sixth time since 2018.
2025 USCSA EASTERN REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP HIGHLIGHTS
• The Babson men captured their second consecutive regional title by winning the slalom and finishing second in the giant slalom, while the women's squad placed second in the GS and tied for second in the combined standings on February 15-16, 2025, at Sugarloaf.
• Senior
Elliot Perretta came in third in the GS and fourth in the combined, sophomore
Connor Roy placed seventh in both the slalom and combined, and classmate
James Rosenbloom came in fourth in the slalom for the Babson men.
• Junior
Sonnie Travis finished fourth in the GS, fifth in the slalom and fourth in the overall combined standings, while sophomore
Camryn Knowlton placed sixth in the giant slalom, 12th in the slalom and ninth in the combined for the Babson women.
ABOUT THE BABSON MEN
• The Beavers concluded their second consecutive perfect season and recorded a 20th consecutive MacConnell Division race by placing first in the giant slalom at Waterville Valley last Sunday.
• First-year
Nico Leunig finished atop the podium for the seventh consecutive race, Perretta placed second, Rosenbloom took fourth place and Roy and first-year
Ben Hostetter came in sixth and seventh, respectively, as seven Babson competitors finished among the top 13.
• Leuning won eight of 10 races on the way to earning MacConnell Division Skier and Rookie of the Year honors, Perretta finished second in the league thanks to eight podium finishes and Rosenbloom posted seven top-five results on the way to placing fourth overall.

Asher Baron (6th), who was the runner-up twice in five MacConnell Division slalom races, Roy (9th) and Hostetter (10th) all recorded seven top-10 finishes during the regular season.
ABOUT THE BABSON WOMEN
• The Beavers had five competitors finish among the top eight on the way to recording their second victory of the season in last Sunday's regular season finale at Waterville Valley.

Julia Wiacek came in second, first-year
Quinn Dennehy place third and Travis (5th), junior
Ava Butler (7th) and Knowlton (8th) added top-10 results as the Green and White finished atop the podium for the first time since January 13 at Sunday River.
• Dennehy recorded five podium finishes, which includes coming in second three times, on the way to placing third in the MacConnell Division standings, while Wiacek was sixth overall thanks to one victory in the slalom and a pair of runner-up showings in the giant slalom.
• Travis registered seven top-10s to finish 12th in the league standings, Knowlton (16th) placed among the top 10 three times and junior
Ava Butler, who was the only Babson skier to complete two runs in all 10 races, came in 18th thanks to five top-15 results.
SUCCESS AT SUGARLOAF
• In addition to her top-five finishes in the giant slalom, slalom and combined last winter, Travis came in sixth in the slalom and combined and 11th in the GS in 2024.
• Wiacek, who missed last season's regional championships, came in fourth in the giant slalom, fifth in the slalom and third in the combined standings as a rookie in 2024.

Sebastian Sheppard finished seventh in the slalom in his only regional appearance back in 2024.
HISTORY LESSON
• The Babson men are making their 18th consecutive appearance at the USCSA Eastern Regional Championships and have finished first six times over the last 12 seasons (2013, 2014, 2017, 2022, 2024, 2025). The Beavers also own a pair of runner-up finishes (2020, 2023) and two third-place results (2018, 2019) during this stretch.
• The Babson women return to the regional championships for the 11th year in a row and have finished no worse than third over their last 10 appearances dating back to 2016. In addition to their 2023 regional title, the Beavers have finished as the runner-up four times (2016, 2020, 2022, 2024) and tied for second place 2018, 2019 and 2025.
WHAT TO WATCH FOR
• The USCSA Eastern Regional Championships have been dominated by the MacConnell Division as of late with the men have grabbing the top three spots in the in the combined standings in four straight years, while the MacConnell women's squads earned five of the top seven spots last winter after claiming four of the top five positions in both 2023 and 2024 seasons, and sweeping the top five places back in 2022.
• The Babson men are looking to qualify for the USCSA National Championships for the 18th consecutive season and the women are looking to advance to nationals for the 10th year in a row.
