Women's Basketball Hosts Salve Regina on Wednesday Night

SERIES HISTORY

•    Babson is 14-5 all-time against Salve Regina in a series that dates back to the 1982-83 campaign. 
•    The Beavers have won each of the first two matchups between the teams as conference foes and has won three in a row overall in the series since 2018.
•    Wednesday's game will be just the fourth in the last eight seasons and the eighth overall between Babson and the Seahawks going back to 2001-02. 

LAST MEETING
•    Katelyn Mollica '25 scored 22 points on 6-of-10 shooting from beyond the arc and graduate student Emily Flynn finished with 12 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks as Babson jumped in front early and held off a late by Salve Regina for an 87-75 win on January 25, 2025, in Newport, R.I. 
•    Senior Allessia Carlo scored 13 points and junior Samantha Reale added 10 points, three assists and two steals for the Beavers, who shot 52.2 percent from the field and led by as many as 23 late in the first half after opening the game with a 21-4 run. 
•    Briana Neary poured in 38 points on 11-of-17 shooting and a perfect 16-of-16 effort at the free throw line, while Sofia Neary added 15 points, 12 rebounds and seven steals for the Seahawks, who overcame shooting just 33.3 percent from the field by scoring 28 points at the free throw line and pulled as close as five early in the fourth quarter. 

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS 
•    Babson (14-7, 6-1 NEWMAC) has won five consecutive games after cruising past Wellesley 70-46 on Saturday. 
•    Carlo led four players in double figures with a career-high 16 points, senior Chloe Perreault recorded a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds, and sophomores Julia St. Laurent and Alessa Mendoza chipped in with 11 and 10 points, respectively, as the Beavers shot 57.7 percent in the second half and used a 16-0 run that spanned the second and third quarters to create separation. 
•    Flynn (14.9 pts, 7.9 reb, 3.6 ast) ranks sixth in the conference in both scoring and assists and seventh in rebounding, sophomore Rylie Rosenberg (10.0 pts, 3.0 reb, 1.4 stl) leads the team with 41 three-pointers and 30 steals, and Perreault (8.3 pts, 6.3 reb) is averaging 11.0 points and 7.5 rebounds over the last four games. 
•    The Green and White ranks second in league play in scoring offense (64.3), scoring defense (52.1), field goal percentage defense (33.2) and rebounding margin (+8.4). 

SCOUTING THE SEAHAWKS
•    Salve Regina (7-14, 1-6 NEWMAC) snapped a seven-game skid with a 61-55 victory over WPI on Saturday afternoon. 
•    Sofia Neary poured in 30 points on 12-of-19 shooting and pulled down 17 rebounds, while Hannah Larenstein added 12 points, four assists and two steals for the Seahawks, who outscored the Engineers 10-4 over the final 4:30 of the contest after seeing their 13-point third-quarter lead disappear. 
•    Neary (19.9 pts, 13.4 reb) has 17 double-doubles in 21 starts and leads the NEWMAC in both scoring and rebounding, Emma Cochrarne (7.1 pts) is second on the team in scoring but is just 1-of-11 shooting over the last three games, and Lauenstein (6.0 pts, 4.1 reb, 2.6 ast) is first on the squad with 21 three-pointers this winter. 
•    Salve Regina ranks second in league play in free throw attempts per game (21.1), is fourth in conference play in rebounding margin (+2.3) and also ranks fifth in field goal percentage defense (37.6). 

FLIPPING THE CALENDAR TO FEBRUARY
•    Head coach Kate Barnosky, now in her third season, has guided the Beavers to a 14-4 record in the month of February. 
•    Babson has won 11 consecutive regular season games in February going back to 2024 while holding its opponents below 60 points nine times. 
•    During the 11-game winning streak, the Green and White has won seven games by double digits and is 4-0 in contests decided by five points or less.

SOARING VERSUS THE SEAHAWKS
•    The trio of Carlo, Emily Flynn and Reale, who has missed the last 14 games due to injury, are all averaging double-digit points in two games over the last two years against Salve Regina. 
•    Flynn is putting up 11.0 points and 10.5 rebounds to go along with 2.0 blocks and 1.5 steals, Reale has contributed 12.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals, and Carlo is averaging 10.5 points and 2.5 assists while shooting 50 percent from the field. 

TRENDS TO WATCH
•    St. Laurent has scored in double figures in seven of the last nine games, which includes a career-high 16 points last Wednesday at Emerson, and is averaging 10.4 points and 6.4 rebounds while shooting 51.8 percent in seven NEWMAC games. 
•    Perreault, who has scored in double figures in three of the last four games, set a new season high with 12 rebounds in Saturday's victory over Wellesley. 
•    Carlo, who leads the team in minutes per game (29.2), has scored in double figures in back-to-back games for the first time this winter. 
•    Emily Flynn, who had her streak of double-digit scoring games snapped at 13 after finishing with five points against Wellesley, has three double-doubles versus NEWMAC foes. 
•    Sophomore Mary Kate Flynn scored a season-high eight points while grabbing six boards in Saturday's win over Wellesley. 

BALANCED BEAVERS
•    Babson has six players averaging between 7.1 and 12.3 points in conference play and has had five different players lead the team in scoring over its last five games. 
•    Rosenberg scored 18 points at MIT on January 24, Perreault finished with a then-season-high 12 points on January 28, Emily Flynn finished with 18 points in the Beavers' January 31 win over Mount Holyoke, and St. Laurent and Carlo led the squad with 16 points in last week's triumphs over Emerson and Wellesley. 

NUMBERS TO KNOW
•    Babson is 6-1 over its last seven games inside Staake Gymnasium, which includes four consecutive wins. 
•    The Beavers are 8-1 on the year when holding their opponents below 60 points. 
•    The Green and White is 9-1 this winter when four or more players score in double figures. 
•    Babson is 9-1 this season and 28-5 over the last three seasons when outscoring its opponents at the free throw line.
