No. 9 Men’s Ice Hockey Travels to Southern Maine for Key Little East Matchup on Saturday

SERIES HISTORY
• Babson is 25-1-2 in the last 28 games against Southern Maine since 2013 and 41-9-3 all-time against the Huskies in a series that dates back to 1995.
• The lone loss since 2013 was at home in the 2020 NEHC Tournament quarterfinals and the ties were in November of 2023 and 2025, both in Babson Park.
• Saturday's game will be the Green and White's first trip since January 13, 2024 to the USM Ice Arena, where they have won 11 games in a row since a 6-0 Husky victory in December 2011.

LAST MEETING
• Senior Ian Driscoll scored with 1:36 remaining in regulation to tie the score and force overtime and No. 13 Babson and Southern Maine skated to a 3-3 tie on November 22, 2025 in Babson Park. The teams went to the seventh round of a shootout before first-year Jordan Bezio scored to give USM a 1-0 decision.
• Junior Jimmy Fallon registered a goal and an assist for the Beavers and junior Sean Senier scored once. Sophomore Evan Brown tallied a pair of assists and seniors Danny Cavanagh and Egan Schmitt each had a helper. Senior Nate Mueller finished with 19 saves in goal for the Beavers, who outshot the Huskies 45-22.
• Senior Conor Donovan and sophomores Gavin Simopoulos and Owen Arend scored for the Huskies, and first-year Cam Gwatkin and junior Ethan Hoover produced assists. First-year Loic Morin had a busy night in goal and finished with a season-high 42 saves.

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
• No. 9 Babson (14-2-2, 9-1-1 LEC) brings a four-game winning streak to Maine after sweeping Western Connecticut (7-2) and Keene State (3-1) last weekend in Babson Park.
• Cavanagh tallied a career-high four points on two goals and two assists, Senier added a career-high three points on a goal and two assists, and 11 different players notched at least one point in the win over WestConn, while junior Mason Rosado finished with 18 saves in goal. Seniors Nolan Dion and Brendan Kennedy registered two points apiece and Mueller made 25 saves in goal in the victory over Keene State to complete the weekend sweep.
• Brown (6-19-25) had three assists over the weekend and tops the league in assists and ranks second in points. Fallon (11-12-23) had a goal in each game and is tied for third in the LEC in goals, tied for fourth in points and tied for sixth in assists. Senior Charlie Andriole (8-8-16) is second on the team in goals and tied for second in Division III in goals by a defenseman. Senior Will Holland (+27) and Andriole (+25) rank 1-2 in the conference in plus/minus while Brown (+17) is tied for fourth, Fallon (+15) is tied for sixth (+14), and Schmitt (+14) is eighth.
• Mueller (1.81 GAA, .929 sv. pct.) is 11-1-2 in 14 starts in goal and tops the LEC in goals against average and save percentage. Junior Mason Rosado (2.50 GAA, .885 sv. pct.) is 3-1 in four starts with Babson's only shutout.

SCOUTING THE HUSKIES
• Southern Maine (10-7-1, 8-2-1 LEC) has won three straight and five of six games this month after sweeping Keene State (6-5, OT) and Western Connecticut (3-0) last weekend in Gorham. The Huskies are on pace for their first winning season since 2007-08 (14-9-3).
• Simopoulos had a hat trick, junior Ethan MacDuff tallied a goal and two assists, junior Kayde Kinaschuk collected three assists, and senior John Hagan scored 1:45 into overtime in the win over Keene State, while Kinaschuk scored all three goals in the Husky win vs. WestConn. Morin made 23 saves against the Owls and first-year Ean Badgett made a season-high 35 saves against the Wolves to earn his first career shutout.
• First-year Ben Aucoin (14-3-17) leads the team in scoring and is tied for the league lead in goals while Kinaschuk (10-6-16) is second on the team and tied for fifth in the LEC in goals. Simopoulos (7-8-15) is third on the team in scoring, Hagan (5-8-13) is fourth in points, and MacDuff (2-9-11) and senior Cole Brennan (2-9-11) share the team lead in assists.
• Morin (3.00 GAA, .914 sv. pct.) has started 15 of the Huskies' 18 games, posting an 8-6-1 record with one shutout, and ranks fifth in the league in goals against average and sixth in save percentage. Badgett (2.01 GAA, .935 sv. pct.) is 2-1-0 in three starts.

BEAVERS VS. THE HUSKIES
• Andriole is Babson's current active leader in scoring against Southern Maine, having collected two goals and six assists for eight points in seven outings vs. the Huskies.
• Driscoll has six points on three goals and three assists in seven outings against the Huskies, and Kennedy has five points on one goal and four helpers. Seniors Ryan Murphy (2-2-4) and Dion (1-3-4) each have four points in seven games and seniors Tommy Rooney (2-1-3), Mike Stevens (1-2-3), Schmitt (1-2-3), and Cavanagh (0-3-3) all have three points against the Huskies.
• Rosado is 3-0-1 in four starts against the Huskies over the past two seasons with a 2.68 goals against average and a .892 save percentage.

A LOOK AT THE LITTLE EAST STANDINGS
• Saturday's game matches two of the top three teams in the Little East Conference as Babson is second behind Norwich and Southern Maine is in third place.
• Norwich (8-2-1) sits atop the standings with 27 points, while Babson (9-1-1) is second with 26 points and Southern Maine (8-2-1) third with 23 points.
• Vermont State Castleton (6-5-0, 18 points) and preseason favorite Plymouth State (6-4-1, 18 points) are tied for fourth, and UMass Boston (5-5-0, 16 pts) has an edge over UMass Dartmouth (5-5-0, 15 points) for what could be the final LEC playoff berth.

CONFERENCE RANKINGS
• Babson is tied with Plymouth State and Castleton for the most goals scored this season, all with 71 goals (3.94 per game), while Southern Maine is tied for fifth with Norwich with 60 goals (3.33 per game).
• The Beavers have allowed a league-low 38 goals (2.11 per game) while Southern Maine is fourth with 53 goals allowed (2.94 per game).
• The Green and White are second in the LEC in power play percentage (.255), scoring 13 goals on 51 attempts, and ranks eighth in penalty kill percentage (.804), conceding nine goals on 46 power play attempts by their opponents. USM is fifth in power play percentage (.175), scoring 11 goals on 63 opportunities, and tops the LEC in penalty kill percentage (.952), allowing just four goals in 83 power play attempts by their opponents.

BUSY BEAVERS
• Brown is riding an eight-game point streak, with three goals and nine assists in that span and at least one assist in seven of the eight games.
• Kennedy has six assists in his last four games, and Fallon has a point in four straight games (2g, 2a).
• Mueller has allowed two goals or fewer in 11 of his 14 starts.

NUMBERS TO KNOW
• The Beavers are 9-0-1 this season when leading after the first period and 10-0-1 when taking a lead into the third period.
• The Green and White are 12-0 when scoring at least four goals and 14-0-1 when scoring at least three goals.
