Men's Basketball Travels to Worcester for Key NEWMAC Clash with Clark

SERIES HISTORY

•    Babson is 42-43 all-time against Clark in a series that dates all the way back to 1934-35. 
•    The Beavers have dropped three in a row to the Cougars for the first time since 2013 after winning 18 of 21 games between the teams from 2014-2024. 
•    The Green and White has been victorious in four of its last five visits to the Kneller Center since 2022. 
•    Five of the last six games between Babson and Clark in Worcester have been decided by four points or less. 

LAST MEETING
•    Aliaun Iscandari scored all of his 17 points in the second half and Boluwasefe John finished with 16 points and 13 rebounds as Clark defeated the Beavers, 77-69, on January 7, in Babson Park. 
•    Kyle Squires knocked down five three-pointers on the way to scoring 15 points and Reid Neumann provided 11 of his 14 points in the first half for the Cougars, who took the lead for good late in the first half and knocked down 12 three-pointers while shooting 54.9 percent in the victory.
•    First-year Thomas Ferdinando poured in a career-high 28 points to go along with six rebounds and four assists for the Beavers, who shot just 40.3 percent and finished 7-of-28 (25 percent) from beyond the arc. 

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
•    Babson (12-6, 6-3 NEWMAC) had its six-game winning streak snapped in a 78-72 loss at first-place WPI last Saturday. 
•    Ferdinando scored 18 points, senior Timmy O'Toole contributed 15 points and eight rebounds, and sophomores Ryan Frauenheim and Timmy Mulvey added 11 points apiece for the Beavers, who trailed by as many as 17 early in the second half before pulling within two points twice in the final 40 seconds. 
•    Ferdinando (15.7 pts, 3.8 reb, 2.7 ast) ranks sixth in the league in scoring and is shooting 47.9 percent from three-point range, Mulvey (14.1 pts, 2.7 ast) has reached double figures in scoring in six consecutive outings and O'Toole (10.3 pts, 9.0 reb) has scored in double figures in three of the last four games, has four double-doubles and leads the NEWMAC in rebounding. 
•    The Green and White ranks 29th in Division III in adjusted offense per The D3 Datacast and ranks first in NEWMAC play in both scoring defense (62.1 points) and rebounding margin (+3.0). 

SCOUTING THE COUGARS
•    Clark (12-7, 7-3 NEWMAC) has won three straight games is coming off an 86-76 road victory over No. 23 WPI on Wednesday night. 
•    Quentin Pridgen produced 19 points, 12 rebounds and six assists, Elijah Small came off the bench to score 18 points on 8-of-9 shooting and Iscandari added 15 points and four assists as six players reached double figures for the Cougars, who shot 49.2 percent and turned 12 turnovers by the Engineers into 19 points. 
•    Iscandari (17.3 pts, 3.5 reb, 2.6 ast, 2.5 stl) ranks third in the league in scoring and second in steals, John (15.5 pts, 7.2 reb, 1.7 blocks) has three double-doubles and is shooting a league-best 59.3 percent, and Pridgen (9.1 pts, 8.1 reb, 5.5 ast) leads the NEWMAC in assists, ranks third in rebounding to go along with two double-doubles this winter. 
•    Clark ranks 25th in Division III in adjusted offense according to The D3 Datacast, is second in league play in scoring offense averaging 77.4 points and also ranks first versus conference foes in three-point field goal defense (28.7). 

O'TOOLE REPEATS AS NEWMAC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
•    After posting a double-double and averaging 7.3 rebounds, 2.7 steals and blocking two shots in three games, O'Toole garnered his second consecutive selection as the league's defensive player of the week on Monday. 
•    Through the Beavers' first nine conference games, the senior forward ranks first in rebounds per game (9.8), second in steals (2.3) and is fourth in blocks per game (1.4). 

POSTSEASON IMPACT
•    Babson (6-3) enters Saturday's clash in Worcester tied with Salve Regina (6-3) for third place in the NEWMAC standings a half-game behind Clark (7-3) and just one game behind first-place WPI (8-2) in the loss column. 
•    All four squads are among the top 55 in The D3 Datacast replication of the NPI, with the Beavers currently sitting at No. 38 and the Cougars at No. 53 after Wednesday's games. 

RISE AND FIRE
•    Babson currently ranks 20th in Division III in three-pointers per game (10.4) and is 22nd nationally in three-point percentage (37.3) and features two of the top snipers in the country in Ferdinando and Mulvey.
•    Ferdinando, who has connected on 58 triples breaking the Beavers' rookie record of 56 three-pointers set by Michael Kingsley '97 in 1993-94 and matched by Mark Giovino '98 in 1994-95, ranks fifth in Division III in three-point percentage (47.9) and eighth in three-pointers per game (3.22). 
•    Mulvey, who has already achieved a new career high with 56 trifectas, ranks 14th nationally in three-pointers per game (3.11) and 22nd in three-point percentage (43.4). 

BEAVER BITES
•    O'Toole, who ranks 11th in Division III in offensive rebounds per game (3.89), needs three more offensive boards to match his career high of 73 set back in 2023-24 and is now ninth in Babson history with 676 career rebounds. 
•    Senior Tyler Lauder ranks fifth in conference play in blocked shots (1.1) and is also third in assist-to-turnover ratio (3.50) and eighth in assists per game (3.1). 
•    In his 10 starts this winter, sophomore Logan Murphy has scored in double figures four times and is averaging 9.2 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.8 assists to go along with a 4.00 assist-to-turnover ratio. 
•    Over the last five games, Frauenheim has 14 assists and just one turnover and is also contributing 5.4 points.  

NUMBERS TO KNOW
•    The Beavers have gone 15-2 over the last two seasons when holding their opponents below 67 points.
•    Babson is 10-3 on the year when shooting 40 percent or better from the floor. 
•    The Green and White is 9-1 this winter and 17-1 over the last two seasons when making 10 or more three-pointers. 
•    The Beavers are 6-1 this season in games decided by five points or less.
