Men's Basketball Carries Four-Game Winning Streak into Tuesday's Clash at MIT

SERIES HISTORY

•    Babson is 64-25 all-time against MIT in a series that dates back to the 1978-79 campaign. 
•    The Beavers have won nine consecutive games versus the Engineers, which includes four straight victories in Cambridge. 
•    Going back to 2017, ten of the last 17 games between the teams have been decided by seven points or fewer or in overtime, although each of Babson's last three wins have come by double digits. 

LAST MEETING
•    Nate Amado '25 scored a game-high 23 points and the Beavers used a 25-7 second-half run to defeat MIT, 82-70, on February 5, 2025, in Babson Park. 
•    Felix Kloman M'25 scored 22 points and Alex Stoddard M'25 added 17 points and five steals for the Beavers, who scored 33 points off 19 turnovers by the Engineers. 
•    Isaac Dobie went 10-of-11 at the free throw line and led four players in double figures with 14 points before fouling out 29 seconds into the second half, while Parker Spann added 13 points and six rebounds for MIT, which shot 55.8 percent in the loss. 

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
•    Babson (10-5, 4-2) has won four consecutive games and is coming off a hard-fought 61-52 victory over Emerson on Saturday afternoon. 
•    Senior Timmy O'Toole, who grabbed 15 rebounds, sophomore Timmy Mulvey and first-year Thomas Ferdinando all scored 11 points for the Beavers, who built a 13-point first-half lead and then withstood offensive struggles to pull away over the final five minutes. 
•    Ferdinando (14.9 pts, 4.0 reb, 2.6 ast) ranks eighth in the NEWMAC in scoring and has reached double figures in six consecutive outings, Mulvey (14.2 pts, 2.8 ast) is one of three players that ranks among the top 10 in the league in both scoring and assists, and O'Toole (9.8 pts, 9.3 reb) is shooting 58.7 percent from the floor and lead the conference in rebounding. 
•    The Green and White ranks first in the NEWMAC in three-pointers per game (10.0) and is second in both scoring offense (74.5 points) and rebounding margin (+3.6). 

SCOUTING THE ENGINEERS
•    MIT (5-10, 1-5 NEWMAC) has dropped two straight games after suffering a 77-66 loss at WPI on Saturday. 
•    Wyatt Mowery came off the bench to score a season-high 22 points on 8-of-12 shooting to go along with eight rebounds, Dobie provided 14 points and Michael Zhang chipped in with 10 points for the Engineers, who shot 46.4 percent from the floor and cut a 16-point deficit down to just three with under six minutes to play. 
•    Dobie (14.9 pts, 4.5 reb) ranks ninth in the league in scoring and is fourth among all players with 74 free throw attempts, Zhang (10.2 pts, 2.5 reb) has scored in double figures in seven of the last eight games, and Rome Delgado-Gonzalez (9.8 pts, 6.3 reb, 2.5 ast) leads the team in rebounding and is second in assists. 
•    MIT, which has given up fewer than 70 points in four of its five wins, is averaging 67.5 points and ranks third in the conference in opponents field goal percentage (41.2). 

O'TOOLE COLLECTS NEWMAC WEEKLY HONOR
•    After averaging 8.7 points, 14.0 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 2.0 blocks, O'Toole was tabbed as the NEWMAC Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season on Monday. 
•    He pulled down a career-high 20 rebounds to go along with three blocks and three steals last Tuesday at Springfield, recorded a season-high four steals while blocking two shots in Thursday's victory over Wheaton and capped the week with 11 points, 15 boards and two steals in the triumph over Emerson. 

DIALING UP THE DEFENSE
•    Through its first six conference games, the Beavers rank first in scoring defense (59.3 points) and three-point field goal defense (29.2 percent), and third in opponents field goal percentage (40.7) and forced turnovers (13.0) while giving up just 0.91 points per possession. 
•    During its current four-game winning streak, Babson has been even stingier holding three opponents below 60 points and allowing just 0.81 points per possession while limiting their foes to just 23.3 percent shooting from three-point range. 

SENIOR MOMENTS
•    Both O'Toole and fellow senior Tyler Lauder played key roles in helping the Green and White outlast Emerson on Saturday, which combining for 10 points and three assists as the Beavers outscored the Lions 24-15 over the final 6:23. 
•    O'Toole posted his third double-double of the year with 11 points and 15 rebounds, while Lauder finished with 10 points, four boards, three assists, three blocked shots and two steals in the victory. 

BEAVER BITES
•    Ferdinando, who is second among NEWMAC rookies in scoring, ranks fourth in Division III in three-point field goal percentage (48.5) and 14th in three-pointers per game (3.13). 
•    O'Toole ranks 19th in Division III in offensive rebounds per game (3.9) and 35th overall in rebounds per game (9.3). 
•    Over the last three contests, Mulvey is averaging 17.7 points and is shooting 50 percent from three-point range (13-of-26). 
•    Sophomore Logan Murphy, who hit both the game-tying and game-winning three-pointers in last Tuesday's 69-66 win at Springfield, is averaging 10.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.6 steals while shooting 42.9 percent from beyond the arc in seven starts this winter. 
•    Babson committed a season-low five turnovers on Saturday against Emerson and are averaging a league-low 8.5 turnovers over its first six conference outings. 

FAMILIAR FACE ON THE OTHER SIDE
•    Although Babson head coach Stephen Brennan will not face an MIT team led by Larry Anderson for the first time in his 31-year career on Tuesday night, he'll see a familiar face in new Engineers head coach BJ Dunne. 
•    Brennan and Dunne are both Bates College graduates and Dunne served as an assistant under Brennan at Babson back in 2010-11. 

NUMBERS TO KNOW
•    The Beavers are 5-1 this season and 17-3 over the last two years when leading at halftime.
•    Babson is 8-2 on the year when shooting 40 percent or better from the field. 
•    The Green and White has gone 15-2 dating back to the start of last season when holding its opponents below 67 points. 
•    The Beavers are 10-1 this season when at least three players score in double figures.
