NEWRY, Maine—Senior
Elliot Perretta (Annecy, France) and sophomore
Connor Roy (Wellesley, Mass.) both recorded top-five finishes to help the Babson College men's alpine ski team claim first place in the slalom to open MacConnell Division competition on Monday at Sunday River Resort.
The Beavers' top three finishers came in 10.05 seconds ahead of second-place UConn. The Huskies, third-place Clarkson and fourth-place Castleton were separated by just 0.37 seconds. The victory was the 11th in a row against its MacConnell Division rivals for the Green and White.
Perretta completed two runs in a time of 1:29.55 that left him just 0.11 seconds behind Sondre Andersen of Castleton, who finished atop the podium with a time a of 1:29.44. Roy came in fifth after crossing the finish line in 1:31.37, while sophomore
James Rosenbloom (Stowe, Vt.) placed seventh among MacConnell Division competitors with a time of 1:32.06.

Ben Hostetter (Osterville, Mass.) came in eighth with a time of 1:33.63, senior
Sebastian Sheppard (Park City, Utah) was 12th in a time of 1:35.36 and sophomore
Jett Sheppard (Park City, Utah) finished 14th just over two seconds behind him with a time of 1:37.67. First-year
Niko Leunig (Evergreen, Colo.) was just 0.01 seconds behind Andersen following his first run but was unable to complete his second run.
Babson will conclude its season opening carnival at Sunday River on Tuesday at 10 a.m. when it competes in the giant slalom.
