Field Hockey's Baroni Collects NFHCA Division III Offensive Player of the Week Honor

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—Babson College sophomore Penny Baroni (Dennis, Mass.) was selected as the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III Offensive Player of the Week on Wednesday morning.

Baroni, who earned New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday, produced four goals and one assist for nine points and was involved in all but one of No. 7 Babson's six goals in two wins over the weekend. She recorded her first career hat trick and scored the game winner in Friday's 4-3 victory at Endicott and then followed up a first-half assist by converting a penalty stroke with just over 10 minutes to go to help the Beavers defeat No. 22 Swarthmore 2-1 on Sunday.

The reigning NEWMAC Rookie of the Year, Baroni is the first Babson player to score at least four goals in the first two games of the season since 2018 when current Beavers' softball coach Tori Roche '20 tallied five times in wins over Worcester State and Endicott.

Baroni is Babson's first national player of the week selection since November 1, 2023, when Jackie Hill M'24 was named NFHCA Offensive Player of the Week after erupting for seven goals and 14 points in wins over the University of New England and Mount Holyoke.

Babson (2-0) is back in action on Sunday, hosting No. 4 Williams at 1 p.m. at MacDowell Field.
