SCOUTING THE PRIDE
• Springfield (5-3-0, 1-0-0), which lost to Vassar on Tuesday, 1-0, captured its first conference game last Saturday at home against Emerson, 5-3.
• Senior Parker Thornton tallied two goals and an assist in the win over Emerson while first-year Gianni Pazvakavambwa notched a goal and an assist and sophomores Tommy Quiterio and Robby Herrera added one goal each. Pote made six saves in the victory over Emerson and made one stop in the loss at Vassar.
• Thornton (4-2-10), junior Connor Policarpio (4-2-10 and Herrera (4-1-9) give the Pride and balanced offensive attack. Sophomore Jared Kelly (2-2-6) and Quiterio (2-1-5) are multi-goal scorers and first-year Parker Gustine (0-5-5) leads the NEWMAC in assists.
• Pote (5-3-0) has played every minute this season in the Springfield goal, posting a 1.88 goals against average and a .722 save percentage with a NEWMAC-leading 39 saves.
TOP OF THE POLL
• The Beavers earned seven of nine first-place votes and 62 points to finish atop the NEWMAC preseason coaches' poll back in August.
• Babson finished 15 points ahead of second-place Coast Guard while MIT was one point behind the Bears in third place and Salve Regina was one point behind the Engineers in fourth place. Springfield finished sixth in the poll with 31 points.
STREAKING BEAVERS
• The Green and White owns a 32-game conference unbeaten streak (27-0-5) that dates back to October 30, 2021.
• Babson is 18-0-7 on the road against NEWMAC foes dating back to September 15, 2018.
• The Beavers are unbeaten in 24 straight NEWMAC regular season games (20-0-4) since October 30, 2021.
TUESDAY'S LEFTOVERS
• The 2-1 setback at No. 13 Amherst on Tuesday was just the Beavers' fourth loss in 25 games (11-4-10) away from home going back to September 14, 2023.
• Yablonovskiy's goal was just the second allowed by Amherst in seven outings this season and broke a three-game shutout streak for the Mammoths.
