Women's Volleyball Faces Road Test at Lasell Friday, Hosts UNE on Saturday

WHAT TO KNOW

•    The Babson volleyball team will make the short drive down Route 16 to face unbeaten Lasell on Friday evening before returning home to take on the University of New England on Saturday afternoon. 

SERIES HISTORY
vs. Lasell

•    Babson is 11-1 all-time against the Lasers in a series that dates back to 2001. 
•    The Beavers own a six-match winning streak versus Lasell since 2008 although the programs have not met since 2018. 
•    The Green and White has been victorious in both of its previous outings against the Lasers in Newton, recording three-set sweeps on October 20, 2012, and September 11, 2002. 
•    All 12 matches between the teams have been decided in three sets. 

vs. University of New England
•    Babson is 6-6 all-time against the Nor'easters in a series that dates back to 1993. 
•    UNE has won three of the last four matches between the teams, who have not met since 2009 and have played just three times over the last 21 seasons. 
•    The Beavers have hosted the Nor'easters just once in program history, suffering a 3-0 setback on November 12, 2008, in the ECAC New England Tournament quarterfinals. 

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
•    Babson (4-3) has dropped two straight matches after falling in five sets to then-No. 17 Colby in the second of two matches last Saturday. 
•    First-year Liberty May (14) and junior Hailey Fouche (13) recorded season highs in kills, junior Zoe Ackerman and first-year Quinn Kane combined for 41 assists, and senior Sophia Shaw finished with 24 digs for the Beavers, who totaled 26 of their 52 kills while winning the first two sets. 
•    Senior Isabella Allen leads the team in kills and is averaging 2.57 kills per set, junior Allison Molendyk is contributing 2.27 kills per set and Fouche (2.13 k/s) has registered double-digit kills in three straight matches and is hitting. 220 on the year. 
•    Sophomore Angelina Holm (1.76 k/s) is averaging a team-best 0.88 blocks per set, Ackerman is averaging 7.30 assists per set and is first on the squad with 25 service aces, and Shaw leads the Green and White in both total digs (98) and digs per set (3.63). 

SCOUTING THE LASERS
•    Lasell (8-0) stayed unbeaten by rallying for a 3-2 win over Wentworth on Wednesday night. 
•    Trinity Silva recorded 19 kills, Morgan Bogli added 14 kills, five blocks and five aces, and Sydney Katz had 33 assists and nine digs for the Lasers, who hit .432 over the final two sets to erase a 2-1 deficit. 
•    Silva is averaging 2.70 kills per set, Andrea Aceituno (2.59 k/s, 2.41 d/s) is hitting .220 and Bogli (2.13 k/s, 0.77 b/s) boasts a .284 hitting percentage. 
•    Victoria Pariseault is averaging a team-high 0.97 blocks per set, Katz is dishing out 8.31 assists per set and Madeline Caro is contributed 3.90 digs per set. 

SCOUTING THE NOR'EASTERS
•    University of New England (5-5) has won four of its last six matches after cruising to a three-set sweep of Salem State on Tuesday night. 
•    Elijah Hanley led all players with 15 kills, Hannah Nowell added 12 kills and 12 digs, and Kelsey Bradshaw and Lylah Shumway tied for match-high honors with five service aces for the Nor'easters, who finished with a season-best .314 hitting percentage. 
•    Hanley is averaging 3.43 kills and 1.80 digs per set, Nowell is contributing 3.51 kills and 2.88 digs per set, and Chloe Miracle is chipping in with 1.57 kills per set while hitting .218 through 10 matches. 
•    Kailyn Reilly is averaging a team-high 0.85 blocks per set, Hayley Shult is handing out 7.15 assists per set, and Kelsey Bradshaw leads the team in both total digs (170) and digs per set (4.25). 

COMING UP ACES
•    Ackerman ranks 18th in Division III averaging 0.93 aces per set and recorded a season-high seven in last Friday's four-set victory over Brandeis. 
•    First-year Misaki Harte served up a season-high five aces in last Saturday's loss to Bowdoin and Shaw has at least one ace in every match this fall for the Beavers, who rank 36th nationally in aces per set (3.00). 
•    As a team, the Green and White has racked up at least 10 aces in six of seven matches this season.

BEAVER BITES
•    Holm has recorded at least one block in 13 straight outings dating back to the 2024 campaign.
•    Ackerman has dished out at least 24 assists in each of Babson's first seven matches. 
•    Shaw has finished with double-digit digs in six of seven contests and has totaled at least 14 digs five times to start the year.
•    Kane handed out a season-high 15 assists in last Saturday's five-set loss to Colby. 

WINNING FORMULA
•    In its four wins this season, Babson is averaging 12.36 kills per set and boasts a .339 hitting percentage. 
•    The Beavers also have recorded 53 service aces against just 25 receiving errors, and have won the opening set in all four matches. 

CLIMBING THE CHARTS
•    Ackerman became the fourth player in Babson history to surpass 2,000 career assists on Saturday, and is now 11th in the program's all-time list with 130 aces. 
•    Allen has moved into 10th place on the Beavers' career list with 717 kills and ranks 18th all-time with 750.0 points. 

NUMBERS TO KNOW
•    The Beavers have won the opening set in six of seven matches this season going 4-2. 
•    Babson has recorded more kills than its opponents in six of seven matches including the losses to Bowdoin and Colby last weekend.
•    The Green and White is 3-0 this season and 19-3 since the start of the 2024 campaign when recording more blocks than its opponents. 
•    The Beavers have lost just once over their last 38 matches when holding their foes to a hitting percentage of .150 or lower.
