WHAT TO KNOW

•    Second-seeded Babson will host the winner of third-seeded Springfield and seventh-seeded Coast Guard in game five of the NEWMAC Tournament on Wednesday afternoon at Alumni Field.

SERIES HISTORY
vs. Springfield

•    Babson is 33-42 all-time against the Pride after splitting this season's regular season doubleheader with a 4-0 victory followed by a 4-2 loss at Alumni Field back on April 4. 
•    The Beavers won eight straight games against Springfield from 2019-23 but are just 2-5 over their last seven games in the series.
•    Dating back to 2017, 12 of the last 22 games between the teams have been decided by one or two runs. 

vs. Coast Guard
•    Babson is 34-39 all-time versus the Bears and split this year's regular season twin bill with a 5-4 win and 7-6 loss in New London, Conn., to open league play back on March 29. 
•    The Beavers have won nine of their last 12 games against Coast Guard although the teams have split the last four meetings. 
•    The Green and White is 8-2 at Alumni Field versus the Bears going back to 2016. 

POSTSEASON HISTORY
vs. Springfield

•    Babson is 13-10 all-time versus the Pride in the conference playoffs and the teams have met eight times in the NEWMAC Tournament since 2017.
•    The Beavers scored a 1-0 victory over Springfield in Game 4 of last year's tournament and five the last eight contests have been decided by one or two runs. 
•    The Green and White is 4-2 against the Pride in Babson Park, which includes a pair of wins en route to claiming the 2021 NEWMAC Tournament championship. 

vs. Coast Guard
•    Babson is 6-8 all-time against the Bears in the conference playoffs and the teams have met four times in the postseason since 2021.
•    The Beavers have won four straight games against Coast Guard in NEWMAC Tournament play while not allowing a run in any of the games. 
•    The Green and White has won both postseason meetings at Alumni Field versus the Bears, which includes a 5-0 triumph back in 2022. 

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
•    Second-seeded Babson (24-13) concluded the regular season with three straight wins and wrapped up a sweep of WPI with an 8-6 victory last Thursday. 
•    Senior Sara Moore went 3-for4 with two runs scored, sophomore Emily Walsh was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI, and senior Athena Hadjipanayis added two hits and knocked in a run for the Beavers, who went in front for good thanks to a three-run homer from sophomore Ruby Madia in the top of the seventh. 
•    Junior Sophia Pak is batting .471 with five extra-base hits, a team-high 23 RBI and 20 runs scored, Moore is hitting .424 with two doubles, two triples, 16 RBI and highs of 31 stolen bases and 32 runs scored, and Walsh enters the tournament with a .311 average to go along with nine doubles, 15 RBI and 22 runs scored. 
•    Graduate student Moira O'Reilly is 9-5 with a 1.62 ERA and 102 strikeouts in 95.0 innings pitched this spring, while classmate Cameron Whiteford is 11-6 with a 1.92 ERA, five shutouts and 121 strikeouts in 113.0 innings on the year. 

SCOUTING THE PRIDE
•    Third-seeded Springfield (29-11) closed the regular season by winning 15 of its final 17 games and beat Salve Regina 4-2 in game two of last Saturday's doubleheader. 
•    Kate Katsetos went 2-for-2 with two RBI and Amelia DeRosa and Carissa Pecchia both singled twice and scored a run for the Pride, which took the lead for good in the third inning and got 10 strikeouts and a complete-game effort in the circle from Lily McCauliffe. 
•    Callie Gendron is batting .462 with 14 doubles, four homers, 37 RBI and 21 runs scored, DeRosa is hitting .381 with 15 doubles, two triples, 20 RBI and 40 runs scored, and Lucy Puskas owns a .270 average to go along with seven doubles, four home runs, 32 RBI and 27 runs scored. 
•    McCauliffe (8-1, 0.73 ERA, 3 ShO) has won each of her seven starts this spring and recorded 57 strikeouts while holding opposing hitters to a .166 average in 67.1 innings pitched, while DeRosa has gone 10-7 with a 3.12 ERA, one shutout and 53 strikeouts in 110.0 innings over 19 starts. 

SCOUTING THE BEARS
•    Seventh-seeded Coast Guard (16-18-1) has won four of its last five games and opened the tournament with a 7-0 victory at sixth-seeded Emerson on Monday. 
•    Hayden Reily went 3-for-3 with two RBI, Bridget Bartz singled twice and knocked in a pair of runs, and Dana Walker added an RBI single while spinning a six-hit shutout in the circle for the Bears, who scored all the runs they would need in a four-run third inning. 
•    Abriana Schmutz is batting .389 with four extra-base hits, 14 RBI and 21 runs scored, Bartz is batting .354 with six doubles, two home runs, 16 RBI and 13 runs scored, and Mack Murnane checks in at .324 with 12 doubles, two homers, 16 RBI and 11 runs scored. 
•    Walker (14-7, 1.83 ERA) has five shutouts, is holding opposing hitters to a .225 average and has recorded 145 strikeouts in 153.0 innings, while Emma Behel has gone 1-9 with a 4.99 ERA in 60.1 innings pitched. 

MOORE EARNS CONFERENCE, NATIONAL HONORS
•    After batting .684 (13-for-19) with five multi-hit games, Moore was tabbed as the league's player of the week on Monday and was selected as the NFCA Division III Player of the Week on Tuesday. 
•    She had one double, two RBI, six runs scored and was 10-for-10 in stolen base attempts as the Beavers won their final three games of the week. 

BEAVERS IN THE POSTSEASON
•    Babson has captured four NEWMAC championships (2004, 2005, 2017, 2021) and has won at least two games in seven of the last eight tournaments going back to 2016. 
•    In addition to their 2017 and 2021 titles, the Beavers also reached the championship round of the tournament in both 2018 and 2024.
•    The Beavers have opened the NEWMAC Tournament with a victory in eight consecutive seasons going back to 2016. 
•    Babson is 4-2 in six conference tournament games at Alumni Field since 2021.

RISING UP THE RECORD BOOKS
•    Already the program's all-time leader with 101 stolen bases, Moore has swiped 31 bags this spring and is now just one away from matching her single-season record of 32 set back in 2023. Her 261 total bases also rank fifth on the Beavers' career list. 
•    Moore's 219 career hits are good for third in program history behind only Catie Funk '13 (231) and Andrea Cartullo '07 (223). 
•    O'Reilly ranks second among active Division III pitchers with 878 career strikeouts in addition to ranking third in innings pitched (659.1) and strikeouts per seven innings (9.32), and sixth with 71 career victories in the circle. 

HIT PARADE
•    Pak ranks second in the NEWMAC with a career-high 57 hits and enters the postseason riding an 11-game hit streak, while Moore is third in the league with 56 hits and has at least one in 12 consecutive games. 
•    Pak and Moore are the sixth Babson duo to record 50 or more hits in the same season and first to achieve the feat since 2016 when  Annie Quine and Samantha Smith '18 finished with 55 and 51 knocks, respectively. 
•    The Beavers' single-season record for hits is 63 set by Cartullo in 2006 and matched by Funk in 2013 and Moore in 2023. 

TOURNAMENT TESTED
•    O'Reilly is 11-8 with a 2.05 earned run average and 124 strikeouts in 116.0 innings pitched over 20 career postseason appearances in the circle. 
•    Moore is batting .357 with two doubles, one RBI, 11 runs scored and seven stolen bases in 18 career postseason outings, while Hadjipanayis went 5-for-14 (.357) at the plate with three runs scored in five NEWMAC Tournament games last season. 
•    Sophomore Charlotte Raymond also hit a three-run homer in her NEWMAC Tournament debut as the Beavers opened last year's championship with a 10-2 victory over Smith. 

TRENDS TO WATCH
•    Hadjipanayis has reached base in seven consecutive games and is batting .381 (8-for-21) during this stretch. 
•    Walsh, who leads the squad with five multi-hit games, and first-year Belle DiCampello both own four-game hitting streaks. 
•    Moore leads the team with 19 multi-hit games and has at least one hit and one stolen base in eight consecutive outings. 
•    Pak has recorded multiple hits in 16 contests, which includes finishing with two or more knocks in four straight games to end the regular season and in 11 of 20 NEWMAC contests. 

NUMBERS TO KNOW
•    The Beavers are 22-2 on the year when scoring at least three runs. 
•    Babson is 20-6 this spring and 41-11 over the last two seasons when scoring the first run of the game. 
•    The Green and White is 18-1 when leading after five innings. 
•    The Beavers are 16-2 on the year and 40-4 going back to the start of the 2024 campaign when giving up two runs or fewer. 
•    Babson is 7-7 on the year in one-run games and 10-9 in contests decided by one or two runs.
