No. 17 Men's Golf Tied for 18th Place After36 Holes at Camp Lejeune Intercollegiate

JACKSONVILLE, N.C.—Junior Colin Fowler (Portland, Ore.) and first-year Aman Vantipalli (Alpharetta, Ga.) finished strong to get into the top 20 highlighting a tough second round for the 17th-ranked Babson College men's golf team at the 52nd Camp Lejeune Intercollegiate at Paradise Point Golf Club on Saturday afternoon. 

The Beavers recorded their highest score of the season (309) and are tied for 18th place at 30-over 606 through 36 holes. Sandhills Community College is in first place at 3-over 579, No. 6 Oglethorpe is just five shots off the lead at 8-over 584 and Franklin & Marshall is third at 9-over 585. Shenandoah (586), which matched Sandhills for the lowest score of the day, and No. 13 Guilford (589) round out the top five. 

Fowler, who began the day in a tie for 34th position, responded after a tough start by making four birdies over his final six holes to shoot a 1-over 73 for the second day in a row to move into a tie for 19th at 2-over 146. Vantipalli, who opened with a 71 on Friday, did not record a birdie in Saturday's round but made an eagle on the par-5 18th hole to shoot 75 to slide into a tie for 19th place alongside Fowler. 

Sophomore Jack Berry (Western Springs, Ill.) shot an 81 and is 13-over through 36 holes, while classmate Evan Eichenlaub (Bethlehem, Pa.) carded an 82 and is 15-over through two rounds. Senior John Baldwin (Little Compton, R.I.) posted an 80 for the second day in a row and will begin Sunday's final round at 16-over. 

Final round play at the Camp Lejeune Intercollegiate begins at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday. 

TOURNAMENT NOTES
•    Vantipalli has played the par-5s in 5-under par over the first two rounds, while Fowler is 1-under on the par-4s. 
•    The Beavers score of 309 is their highest in 10 rounds on the Gold Course at Paradise Point GC over the last four seasons.
•    Babson has finished third (2022), fifth (2024) and sixth (2023) in its three previous visits to the Camp Lejeune Intercollegiate.
