No. 14/13 Women's Lacrosse Visits Wellesley for Regular Season Finale on Wednesday

SERIES HISTORY
• Babson is 25-21 all-time against Wellesley in a series that dates back to 1987.
• The Beavers have won eight in a row and 19 of the last 21 games versus the Blue going back to 2007.
• Each of Babson's last six victories have come by a margin of at least nine goals.

LAST MEETING
Lily Ives M'24 produced three goals and four assists, and seven players scored multiple goals as No. 17 Babson rolled past crosstown rival Wellesley, 25-1, on April 24, 2025, at MacDowell Field.
• Seniors Kathryn Blake and Michaela Downer tallied three goals and an assist each for the Beavers, and classmate Clare Connolly, Nicole Darveau '24 and sophomore Mia Fierro all scored three time each. Senior Amelia Novitch contributed a goal and an assist, Connolly collected a game-high 11 draw controls, and Kayleigh Hacker '24 scooped up a team-high five ground balls.
• Junior Finley Tipton scored her team-leading 51st goal of the season for the Blue in the second half. Tipton also grabbed three draw controls, senior Ryan Boone caused a pair of turnovers, and junior Anna Blake Patrick and senior Cianna Salvatora combined for nine saves in the setback.

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
• Babson (12-2, 9-0 NEWMAC), ranked 14th in Division III by the IWLCA and 13th by USA Lacrosse Magazine, has won nine games in a row after defeating Springfield, 16-11, on Saturday at MacDowell Field.
• Novitch tallied three goals and three assists as Babson built a 16-5 lead and held off a Springfield comeback. Downer scored three goals, graduate student Ellie Hilsabeck added two goals and an assist, and Connolly contributed a pair of goals and 14 draw controls. Senior Jessica Evans and Blake also scored twice, graduate student Eileen Manning finished with two caused turnovers and two ground balls, and senior Kathleen Murphy was impressive in goal with 14 saves in the victory.
• The Beavers have a strong 1-2 punch on offense with Novitch (28-30-58) and Blake (35-20-55) while Connolly (42-0-42) leads the team in goals and tops the NEWMAC in draw controls (177). Hilsabeck (24-9-33), Downer (22-8-30), and Evans (21-7-28) give the Green and White six players with at least 20 goals and 28 points.
• Manning (20 caused turnovers) leads a defense that has allowed just 8.3 goals per game. Murphy has a 8.21 goals against average and a career-best .522 save percentage with 26 ground balls and 12 caused turnovers in the crease.

SCOUTING THE BLUE
• Wellesley (1-13, 0-9 NEWMAC) suffered its 12th straight loss on Saturday at Mount Holyoke, 12-11, in South Hadley.
• Sophomore Katie McCabe led the Blue with four goals and an assist, first-year Charlotte Petersen-Kopman contributed three goals and an assist, and sophomore Mallory Kennison added a pair of goals in the setback. McCabe also produced three draw controls, five caused turnovers and four ground balls, senior Mila Rosenthal-Vincenti had six draw controls and three ground balls, and classmate Anna Tutek caused five turnovers and scooped up two ground balls. Patrick made seven first-half saves in goal and first-year Aspen Caudill made five stops in the second half.
• Tipton (37-17-54) is among the NEWMAC scoring leaders for the Blue and has a team-high 51 draw controls. McCabe (19-8-27) and Petersen-Kopman (19-4-23) are also solid offensive threats. Senior Julee Sharma (26 CT, 31 GB), Tutek (25 CT, 26 GB) and Boone (23 CT, 29 GB) lead the defense.
• Caudill (15.43 GAA, .403 sv. pct) has played in 14 games with four starts and Patrick (19.01 GAA, .391 sv. pct) has started nine of her 10 games.

A PEAK AT THE NEWMAC PLAY-OFFS
• Babson (9-0) has clinched the regular season crown and top seed in the NEWMAC Tournament, which begins on Saturday.
• MIT (8-1) and Springfield (7-2) are on track to earn the second and third seeds and meet in a semifinal clash next Wednesday. Coast Guard (6-3), Smith (6-4) and Wheaton (5-4) have clinched playoffs berths, with Clark (3-6) and Salve Regina (3-6) fighting for the final spot.

SUCCESS IN THE NEWMAC 
• Babson has won 30 consecutive games against NEWMAC opponents going back to 2023 and is 79-8 against conference foes as far back as 2016.
• The Green and White have outscored the opponents 174-63 in the nine conference wins this season.

SENIOR MILESTONES
• Novitch (105), Blake (102), and Connolly (100) have all reached the 100-goal career milestone for the Beavers this season, and Evans (99) is on track to become the fourth this year and 23rd in program history to hit the century mark.
• Novitch (66) has moved up to a tie for fifth on the career assist mark with Anita Martignetti '08 and Lexi Lenaghan '19, and Blake (55) is tied for 11th with Misha Beatty '14.
• Murphy broke the program record for victories with the win over Springfield, upping her career mark to 55-19, surpassing the mark by Sarah Macary '11. 

BEAVER BITES
• Blake has scored at least two goals in 13 of her 13 games this spring. 
• Novitch has a least one point in 29 straight going back to last season.
• The Division III all-time leader in draw controls, Connolly has moved up to second all-time in all divisions with 700, trailing only Maddie Jenner of Duke (791 from 2019-23).

NUMBERS TO KNOW
• Babson is 10-0 this season and 25-0 over the past two seasons when leading at halftime.
• The Beavers are 12-0 this season and 38-1 over the past three seasons when scoring 12 or more goals.
• The Green and White are 9-0 this season and 22-0 dating back to last season when recording more ground balls than their opponents.

UP NEXT
• The Beavers will receive a first-round bye in the NEWMAC Tournament and will host a semifinal game next Wednesday at MacDowell Field.
