SERIES HISTORY

Zander Teator recorded a six-out save as the Beavers defeated Wheaton, 5-3, in the NEWMAC Tournament championship game on May 12, 2024, in Babson Park.

Tanner Santos was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and three relievers combined to toss five shutout innings for the Beavers, who forced the if necessary game with an 8-2 win behind a complete game from

• Mike Maher hit a two-run homer to tie the game in the top of the third inning and Tommy Ambrosone had an RBI single for the Lyons, who were limited to just five hits in the contest.
SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
• Babson (19-8, 6-4 NEWMAC) has won five straight games after finishing off a sweep of WPI with a 9-0 victory on Saturday afternoon.
• Teator went 2-for-4 with a two-homer and three RBI, sophomore
Jack Moses smashed a three-run homer as part of a three-hit day and classmate
Jason Finkelstein struck out four over 7.0 shutout innings on the mound for the Beavers, who got at least one hit from eight different players in the win.
• Teator is batting .436 with four homers, eight doubles, 24 RBI and 21 runs scored, senior
Justin Guest is hitting .346 with 11 doubles, two home runs, 15 RBI and 26 runs scored, and sophomore
Ryan Liss owns a .307 average to go along with six doubles, two triples, four homers, 23 RBI and 25 runs scored.

Chase Burrows is 4-0 with a 2.94 ERA and a 0.83 WHIP in 33.2 innings, junior

Luke McClintock (1-0, 1.64 ERA) have both made 10 appearances out of the bullpen while combining to hold opposing hitters to a .173 average.
SCOUTING THE LYONS
• Wheaton (16-14, 8-4 NEWMAC) has dropped its last three games after suffering a 6-4 loss in game two of Saturday's doubleheader at No. 15/16 Salve Regina.
• Robbie Lamond, Shawn Cali and Ray Toth all homered and Greg Strire allowed just two runs over 5.0 innings for the Lyons, who took a 4-1 lead in the fifth inning before the Seahawks rallied with five unanswered runs.
• Casey Wensley is batting .378 with four homers, 10 doubles, 25 RBI and 32 runs scored, Timmy Wagner is hitting .377 with 13 doubles, four home runs, 44 RBI and 28 runs scored, and Lamond owns a .304 average to go along with 12 doubles, two triples, three homers, 11 stolen bases, 21 RBI and 35 runs scored.
• Ben Oliveira is 4-1 with a 5.94 ERA and 28 strikeouts in 36.1 innings pitched, Joe Mulhern is 0-1 with a 1.69 ERA in 12 appearances out of the bullpen and Josh Fischer has seven saves and a 2.38 ERA to go along with 17 strikeouts in 11.1 innings of relief this spring.
STREAKING BEAVERS
• Santos enters the week riding a nine-game hitting streak and both he and Liss have reached base safely in 21 straight contests.
• Guest has a hit in seven consecutive outings and has reached base safely in his last 15 starts, while Teator has recorded three straight multi-hit games and has scored a run in five straight starts.

Jack Julian has reached base in nine games in a row, which includes at least one hit in the last three, and has at least one run scored in five consecutive outings.
TRENDS TO WATCH
• During its current five-game winning streak, the Beavers are averaging 11.8 runs and have scored a combined 30 runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings.
• The Green and White has allowed 23 runs over the last five games, 13 of which have come over the first three innings.
• The Beavers have at least one extra-base hit in all 27 games this season and rank first in conference play in both batting average (.310) and OBP (.408).
• Babson has committed the fewest errors (7), ranks first in fielding percentage (.979) and is second in double plays (9) behind only Wheaton this spring versus NEWMAC foes.
PLAYOFF PUSH
• Babson enters the penultimate week of the regular season as one of five teams separated by just one game in the loss column of the NEWMAC standings.
• Salve Regina sits atop the standings at 9-3, MIT (7-3) and Wheaton (8-4) begin the week a game out of first, and the Beavers and Coast Guard are both 6-4 and just two games back.
• In addition to facing Wheaton twice over the next eight days, the Green and White also welcomes Coast Guard to Govoni Field for a doubleheader on Saturday.
STRONG PERFORMANCES ON THE MOUND
• The trio of junior
Connor Doan, classmate
Vinnie Purpura and sophomore
Tristan Pearl combined to go 3-0 with a 0.82 ERA and a 0.82 WHIP in 11.0 innings of work out of the bullpen last week.
• Doan struck out two and gave up just two hits over 4.2 scoreless innings to earn the win against Lasell on Tuesday, Pearl allowed one run over 3.0 innings in his first appearance of the year to pick up his second career victory on Wednesday at Tufts, and Purpura tossed 3.1 shutout innings that included three strikeouts to improve to 2-2 with the win over UMass Dartmouth on Thursday.
• Additionally, Finkelstein improved to 3-0 while lowering his ERA to 3.03 with his seven shutout innings on Saturday, which included retiring 12 of the final 13 batters he faced.
NUMBERS TO KNOW
• The Beavers are 13-3 this season and 35-6 going back to the start of the 2024 campaign when scoring the first run of the game.
• Babson is 3-3 in one-run games and 4-4 on the year in games decided by one or two runs.
• The Green and White is 16-3 this year when allowing five or fewer runs.
