Hannah McCarthy (Toronto, Ontario) carded a 5-over 76 as No. 13 Babson College wrapped up the Williams Invitational in ninth place on Sunday afternoon at Taconic Golf Club.
The Beavers struggled to their highest score of the season (440) and posted a 36-hole total of 672 to finish three shots behind eighth-place Bates. No. 8 Williams and No. 6 Wellesley tied for first at 618, while Middlebury finished third at 625.
McCarthy made three birdies on her first nine to make the turn at 1-over and was 2-over through 15 holes before giving back three shots over the final three holes to shoot a 76 that left her tied for 26th position at 19-over 161. Junior
Laura Lu (Chengdu, China) followed up Saturday's 79 with a round of 13-over 84 to finish in a tie for 38th place at 22-over 164 for the weekend.
First-year
Camila Amaya (Singer Island, Fla.) carded an 89 for a 36-hole total of 27-over 169, sophomore
Michelle Guan (Brooklyn, N.Y.) closed with a 91 and first-year
Molly McCarthy (Toronto, Ontario) followed up her first round 87 with a 95.
TOURNAMENT NOTES
• Despite struggling at Taconic GC, the Beavers concluded its second season with a 313.00 team scoring average.
• Babson, which earned the program's first national ranking in the WGCA poll, and got to as high as No. 12 in the Scoreboard Division III rankings.
• The Beavers posted three of their four highest scores of the year at Taconic and tied for ninth at the Williams Fall Invitational back in late September.
