WELLESLEY, Mass.—The Babson College women's golf team wrapped up the Ann Batchelder Match Play with losses to No. 14 Middlebury College and No. 25 Bowdoin College on Sunday at Nehoiden Golf Club.
The Beavers were edged 3-2 by Middlebury and suffered a 4-1 setback against Bowdoin. They concluded the weekend with a 2-2 record thanks to victories over No. 7 Wellesley and No. 8 Amherst on Saturday.
First-year
Vanya Bansal (Noida, India) shot a 1-over par 73 that included four birdies and went 2-0 on the day for the Green and White. She won eight of the first 10 holes in an 8&7 win over Emilia Rose of Bowdoin and was a 3&1 winner over Ella Han of Middlebury.
Bansal, who carded a 76 in her collegiate debut on Saturday, finished the weekend with a 4-0 record.
Sophomore
Hannah McCarthy (Toronto, Ontario) shot a 6-over 78 and earned Babson's other point on Sunday with a 4&3 victory over Danielle Honkamp of Middlebury. She won the first three holes of the match and then held a 4-up lead after nine holes.
Junior
Laura Lu (Chengdu, China), sophomore
Alice Zhu (Orlando, Fla.) and first-year
Katie Yang (Orlando, Fla.) all went 0-2 in Sunday's matches.
Babson returns to action with its first stroke play event of the fall when it travels to Taconic Golf Club for the Williams Invitational on September 27-28.
