Softball Resumes Play in Florida with Five Games in Three Days Beginning Wednesday Morning

WHAT TO KNOW

•    After winning four of its first six games to begin the season, the Babson softball team returns from on off-day on Tuesday to play five games over three days to conclude its trip to Florida beginning on Wednesday morning. 

SERIES HISTORY
vs. New Paltz:
Babson is 2-0 all-time against the Hawks, which includes a 1-0 victory back in 2012. 
vs. Rowan: The Beavers are 3-2 all-time versus the Profs and Wednesday's matchup will be the first since the 2017 NCAA Tournament Babson Park Regional final where Babson defeated Rowan 3-2.
vs. Farmingdale State: first meeting
vs. Wisconsin-La Crosse: Babson dropped the only meeting between the teams 7-6 in eight innings back in 2008.
vs. McDaniel: The Beavers are 1-0 all-time after defeating the Green Terror 1-0 last March in Florida. 

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
•    Babson (4-2) had its three-game winning streak snapped in a 6-1 loss to Wesleyan on Monday afternoon. 
•    Senior Sara Moore and junior Sophia Pak both recorded two hits and junior Allie Cubberly produced an RBI double for the Beavers, who left eight runners on base in the loss. 
•    Pak is batting .500 (9-for-18) with a triple, three RBI and four runs scored, first-year Belle DiCampello is hitting .467 with two doubles, an RBI and four runs scored, and Moore boasts a .500 OBP and is batting .400 with one triple, two RBI, six stolen bases and five runs scored. 
•    Graduate student Cameron Whiteford is 3-0 with a 0.41 ERA and 30 strikeouts in 17.0 innings, classmate Moira O'Reilly (0-2, 2.69 ERA) has recorded 22 strikeouts in 13.0 innings and sophomore Katie Vlacich is 1-0 with a 3.50 earned run average and 15 strikeouts in 8.0 innings of work this spring. 

SCOUTING NEW PALTZ
•    The Hawks (3-5) defeated Clarkson 4-2 in the second of two games on Sunday and face Southern Maine and Wellesley on Tuesday morning. 
•    Kelsey O'Brien is batting .409 with five doubles, four RBI, four stolen bases and four runs scored, Sophia D'Arcangelis is hitting .389 with a triple, two RBI and three runs scored, and Jackie Rometo checks in at .269 with a double, four RBI and four runs scored over the first eight games. 
•    Leah Gunsett is 0-2 with a 1.65 ERA and 11 strikeouts in 17.0 innings, while Sydney Waldon has gone 2-3 with a 6.26 earned run average to go along with 23 strikeouts and 17 walks in 19.0 innings of work. 

SCOUTING ROWAN
•    The third-ranked Profs (14-0) stayed unbeaten by defeating Wooster 10-0 in five innings and SUNY Fredonia 4-2 on Sunday. 
•    Liz McCaffery is batting .467 with a homer, three doubles, three triples, seven RBI, nine stolen bases and 15 runs scored, Payton McNair is hitting .447 with three doubles, six runs batted in and 10 runs scored, and McKenzie Melvin boasts a .350 average to go along with nine extra-base hits, 10 RBI and 14 runs scored for an offense that is averaging better than six runs per game. 
•    Rylee Lutz (6-0, 0.19 ERA) has recorded 38 strikeouts in 36.0 innings while holding opposing batters to a .121 average, and Emily McCutcheon has gone 6-0 with a 0.38 earned run average to go along with a 0.65 WHIP. 

SCOUTING FARMINGDALE STATE
•    The Rams (2-2) split a pair of games on Monday falling to McDaniel 8-0 in five innings before rebounding with a 4-1 victory over the Milwaukee School of Engineering. 
•    Bailey Hammock is batting .455 with four stolen bases, two RBI and three runs scored, Isabella Marchini is hitting .444 with a triple and two runs batted in, and Samantha Stolfi is 4-for-11 (.364) and leads the team with three runs batted in entering Tuesday's contests. 
•    Deanna Ebert (1-0) did not allow an earned run over 4.1 innings in her first start of the season, while Madison DeMaio (1-1, 3.68 ERA) has recorded 11 strikeouts and eight walks but is holding opposing hitters to a .192 average in 13.1 innings over three starts. 

SCOUTING WISCONSIN-LA CROSSE
•    The Eagles (10-4) have won three of their last four games after pulling out a 14-13 nine-inning victory over SUNY Cortland on Monday. 
•    Maddy Bombach is batting .500 with two doubles, nine RBI and seven runs scored, Kyra Lard is hitting .465 with two home runs, six doubles, 16 RBI and 12 runs scored, and Brooke Howard boasts a .413 average to go along with five extra-base hits, six RBI, six stolen bases and a team-high 16 runs scored. 
•    Madi Lee is 3-0 with a 2.55 ERA and 21 strikeouts in 22.0 innings pitched, while Kaeley Niemiec has gone 3-1 with a 2.90 earned run average in 19.1 innings of work this spring. 

SCOUTING MCDANIEL
•    The Green Terror (3-3-1) has won three straight games to even its record after dropping three of its first four outings to start the year.
•    Ryan Smith is batting .450 with a double, a triple, four RIB and six runs scored, Riley Jackson is hitting .412 with a double, two runs batted in and seven runs scored, and Bella Sylvester owns a .333 average to go along with two extra-base hits, five RBI and five runs scored. 
•    Hannah Costa is 1-1 with a 2.50 earned run average in 14.0 innings over three starts, while Amy Anderson (1-1) has given up 11 earned runs in 11.0 innings in two starts to begin the season.

WHITEFORD NAMED NEWMAC PITCHER OF THE WEEK
•    After going 2-0 while recording 19 strikeouts in a pair of shutout victories, Whiteford was tabbed as the conference pitcher of the week on Monday morning. 
•    She struck out 11 and tossed a no-hitter in her Babson debut, an 8-0 five-inning win over Clarkson on Saturday, and followed it up with a complete-game two hitter that include eight strikeouts to lead the Beavers past Wisconsin-River Falls 8-0 in five innings on Sunday. 

STREAKING BEAVERS
•    DiCampello has reached base safely in all six games this spring and enters's Wednesday's action with a five-game hitting streak.
•    Pak and sophomore Emily Walsh also have a hit in three straight games entering Wednesday's contest against New Paltz. 

PITCHING PROWESS
•    Thru its first six games, the trio of Whiteford, O'Reilly and Vlacich is holding opposing hitters to just a .170 average. 
•    The trio is averaging 12.34 strikeouts per seven innings and has fanned 67 batters in 38.0 innings to begin the year. 

NUMBERS TO KNOW
•    Babson is 3-0 this season when scoring the first run of the game and 2-0 when scoring in the first inning.
•    The Beavers are 4-1 on the year when recording more hits than their opponents. 
•    The Green and White is 4-0 this spring and 20-3 since the start of last year when leading after five innings. 
•    The Beavers are 3-0 to start the year and 27-2 going back to the start of 2024 when allowing two or fewer runs.
