WHAT TO KNOW
•   The Babson softball team kicks off the 2025 season with 11 games over seven days at The Spring Games in central Florida beginning on Saturday.Â
•   The Beavers will play twice on Saturday, Sunday and Monday before getting an off-day on Tuesday. The back half of the trip features twin bills on Wednesday and Thursday along with one game on Friday.Â
SERIES HISTORY
vs. Clarkson: Babson is 2-1 all-time against the Golden Knights and won the last meeting between the teams back in 2018, 5-2.
vs. Ramapo: The Beavers are 0-2 all-time against the Roadrunners and the teams have not met since 2013.Â
vs. University of New England: Babson is 2-1 all-time against the Nor'easters, which includes a 5-0 victory in 2022.Â
vs. Wisconsin-River Falls: The Beavers are 1-0 versus the Falcons thanks to a 4-2 eight-inning victory back in 2014.Â
vs. St. Lawrence: Babson is 2-1 against the Saints but have not played since 2015.Â
vs. Wesleyan: The Beavers are 3-5 all-time against the Cardinals and have won two straight in the series, which includes a 13-0 triumph in 2022.Â
SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
•   Babson returns 16 players from a team that finished 27-18 after advancing to the NEWMAC Tournament final for the first time since 2021 last season.Â
•   Senior
Sara Moore, a three-time All-NEWMAC selection, batted .341 with eight extra-base hits, 14 RBI, 24 stolen bases and 27 runs scored, sophomore
Emily Walsh hit .304 with two doubles, two triples, 18 RBI and 18 stolen bases, and senior
Athena Hadjipanayis finished with a .294 average to go along with nine doubles, 16 RBI, 24 runs scored and 20 stolen bases in 2024.Â
•   Graduate student
Moira O'Reilly, the three-time reigning NEWMAC Pitcher of the Year and 2024 All-America selection, went 17-9 with a 1.46 ERA, nine shutouts and 232 strikeouts in 177.2 innings, while sophomore
Katie Vlacich finished 10-9 with a pair of shutouts to go along with a 3.50 ERA in 114.0 innings of work as a rookie.Â
SCOUTING CLARKSON
•   The Golden Knights (0-2), which suffered a pair of losses to Middlebury on March 6, brings back 13 players from a team that went 11-25 in 2024.Â
•   All-Liberty League and NFHCA Region III standout Devin Fitzpatrick batted .317 with 11 doubles, seven home runs and 27 runs batted in, Elizabeth Greco hit .286 with three doubles, 18 RBI and 11 runs scored, and Zoey Kovach had a .250 average to go along with four doubles, 10 RBI and eight runs scored in 34 starts.Â
•   Fitzpatrick also was Clarkson's top option in the circle going 10-8 with three shutouts, a 2.61 ERA and 107 strikeouts in 142.1 innings pitched last season.Â
SCOUTING RAMAPO
•   The Roadrunners (0-0), who were picked third in the NJAC preseason poll, return 17 players from a team that went 32-12 and reached the NCAA Tournament for the second year in a row in 2024.Â
•   Katie Rygiel, who earned All-NJAC and all-region honors, batted .442 with 17 doubles, four home runs, 35 RBI and 39 runs scored, Avery Kontura hit .303 with 11 doubles, six homers and 35 runs batted in, and Ysabellah Otero finished with a .290 average to go along with four doubles, five home runs and 21 RBI last spring.Â
•   Marissa DiPaolo earned all-conference and all-region accolades after going 13-5 with a 1.39 ERA in 111.0 innings, while Kassy Stefanski was 14-5 with a 1.91 ERA and 92 strikeouts in 110.0 innings of work last season.Â
SCOUTING UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND
•   The Nor'easters (0-0) bring back 13 players from a team that went 12-29 in 2024.Â
•   Hannah Irons batted .315 with seven doubles, three triples, 12 RBI and 19 runs scored, Emma Michaud hit .286 with six doubles, a team-high 21 runs batted in and 19 runs scored, and Elise Connor had a .264 average to go along with five doubles, eight RBI and a team-high 23 walks.Â
•   Cat Higgins was 2-3 with a 2.44 ERA in 10 appearances, while Kara MacDonald went 4-11 with a 6.14 ERA in 84.1 innings in the circle last spring.Â
SCOUTING WISCONSIN-RIVER FALLS
•   The Falcons (4-2) head to Florida riding a four-game winning streak after sweeping Crown in a doubleheader back on March 8.Â
•   Kayla Dolan is batting .474 with four extra-base hits and eight runs scored, Kelly Aultman is hitting .471 with four home runs, 12 RBI and seven runs scored, and Tessa Peterson boasts a .417 average to go along with two doubles, three runs batted in and six runs scored over the first six games of the year.Â
•   The trio of Alexa Dusterhoft (1-0), Lindsey Duggan (1-0) and Brooklyn VanGruensven (1-2) owns a 1.07 earned run average, have recorded 37 strikeouts over 32.2 innings and have limited opposing hitters to a .118 average to begin the season.Â
SCOUTING ST. LAWRENCE
•   The Saints (0-0), who were picked fourth in the Liberty League preseason poll, return 13 players from a team that finished 19-15 after falling in the opening round of the conference tournament last spring.Â
•   Maeve Thompson earned all-league second-team honors after batting .336 with nine extra-base hits, 15 RBI and a team-high 28 runs scored, Allison Kloft hit .324 with six doubles and 24 runs batted in and Vivian Johnson was named to the All-Liberty League first team after batting .317 with five doubles, three triples, 16 RBI and 26 runs scored.Â
•   All-Liberty League second-teamer Sofia Berryhill went 10-5 with a 2.82 ERA in 96.2 innings pitched, while Izzy Melanson finished 4-9 with a 2.86 earned run average and two shutouts in 88.0 innings of work in 2024.Â
SCOUTING WESLEYAN
•   The Cardinals, who return 13 players from a team that went 16-21 last season, opened its spring break trip with five-inning wins over Washington (Md.) (8-0) and Regis (10-2) on Tuesday.Â
•   Wendy Smart batted .350 with five doubles, 14 RBI and team highs of 26 runs scored and 13 stolen bases, Molly Lennon hit .330 with five doubles, two home runs, 12 RBI and 19 runs scored, and Isabella Secaira-Cotto had a .317 average to go along with four doubles, two homers and a team-best 19 runs batted in.Â
•   Secaira-Cotto went 9-8 with a 2.95 ERA and three shutouts over 97.1 innings in the circle, while Abby Orso was 11-5 with a 2.67 ERA and 89 strikeouts in 110.0 innings pitched at Colby last season.Â
BEAVERS' NEW LEADER
•  Â
Tori Roche '20 was officially named as just the fourth head coach in program history back on August 2, 2024.Â
•   A two-time captain, Roche batted .285 with 19 doubles, five home runs, 31 RBI and 46 runs scored while starting 101 of 111 career games behind the plate, and helped the Green and White reach the NCAA Super Regionals for the first time in program history in 2017.Â
•   Roche also was a standout for the Babson field hockey program helping the Beavers make three NCAA Tournament appearances. She is tied for fourth all-time in 56 goals and ranks fifth with 127 career points.Â
MOIRA'S MILESTONES
•   Already the most decorated pitcher in program history, O'Reilly ranks first on Babson's career list in wins (62), strikeouts (776), strikeouts per seven innings (9.62) and shutouts (24) and is tied for first all-time with 65 complete games.Â
•   She enters the 2025 campaign just 36.1 innings shy of the Beavers' all-time record of 600.2 held by Ali Reilly '18 and also ranks third all-time with a 1.70 earned run average in 95 career appearances.Â
BEAVER BITES
•   Moore, who already is Babson's career leader with 70 stolen bases, enters the 2025 campaign ranked 10th on the program's all-time list with 163 hits.Â
•   Sophomore
Charlotte Raymond led the Beavers with 26 runs batted in, eight multi-RBI games and two home runs last spring.Â
•   Moore led the Green and White with 12 multi-hit games, Walsh was second on the team with 10 multi-hit games and Hadjipanayis recorded at least two hits eight times last season.
•   Moore batted .500 (16-for-32) with 10 stolen bases and nine runs scored, while sophomore
Ruby Madia hit safely in eight of 10 starts during last year's trip to Florida.Â
NUMBERS TO KNOW
•   The Beavers went 11-0 when scoring six or more runs and were 15-4 when putting up at least four runs in 2024.Â
•   Babson was 24-2 last season and is 40-6 over the last two years when giving up two runs or fewer.Â
•   The Green and White went 16-3 last year when leading after five innings.Â
•   The Beavers were 11-8 in one-run games a season ago.Â
