Women's Basketball Heads Across Town to Face Wellesley on Wednesday Night

SERIES HISTORY

•    Babson is 55-15 all-time against Wellesley in a series that dates back to the 1976-77 campaign. 
•    The Beavers have won 12 straight and 24 of the last 26 games versus the Blue going back to 2008. 
•    Just three of the last 17 games between the teams have been decided by single digits. 
•    Babson's last loss on the road in the series came on January 29, 2014. 

LAST MEETING
•    Senior Katelyn Mollica led a balanced attack with 13 points and junior Chloe Perreault added 10 points to help the Beavers defeat Wellesley, 80-51, on January 31, 2024, in Babson Park. 
•    Madison Odam '24 scored eight points and seniors Emily Flynn and Camilla Silk chipped in with seven points apiece for Babson, which built a 46-28 halftime lead and shot 52.5 percent in the victory. 
•    Mirella Funari led all scorers with 15 points, Yitzel Serna finished with 13 points and Caitlin Windross contributed 12 points and eight rebounds for the for the Blue, which shot 40.4 percent but was just 3-of-13 from long distance. 

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS 
•    Babson (10-9, 2-3 NEWMAC) has split its last four games and is coming off a 62-59 victory at WPI on Saturday. 
•    Mollica scored 11 points, senior Kiara Simone Davis scored all nine of her points in the fourth quarter and Perreault and sophomore Samantha Reale both added eight points for the Beavers, who shot 51.1 percent and held on after building a nine-point lead with under 2:00 to play. 
•    Mollica (14.9 pts, 1.8 reb) ranks first in Division III with 71 three-pointers and is shooting 44.4 percent from beyond the arc, Reale (11.5 pts, 6.3 reb, 2.4 ast, 2.1 stl) leads the team in assists and steals, and Flynn (9.5 pts, 7.2 reb, 2.3 ast) is first on the squad with six double-doubles. 
•    The Green and White is averaging 64.2 points and ranks fourth in league play shooting 41.2 percent from the field. 

SCOUTING THE BLUE
•    Wellesley (6-12, 1-4 NEWMAC) has dropped four straight games after suffering an 81-64 loss at Coast Guard on Saturday. 
•    Trinity Barrow provided 22 points, nine rebounds, three assists and two blocks, and Ava Shane added 12 points and seven boards for the Blue, which shot 44.6 percent but was unable to recover after getting outscored 31-18 in the second quarter. 
•    Barrow (13.8 pts, 6.3 reb, 2.9 stl, 2.8 ast) has scored in double figures in 10 of the last 11 games and has at least one three-pointer in five straight outings, Shane (9.8 pts, 6.9 reb) is shooting 43.2 percent and has scored in double figures four times in five NEWMAC games, and Funari (9.6 pts, 4.4 reb, 2.8 ast, 2.5 stl) is averaging 4.4 free throw attempts per game. 
•    Wellesley is averaging 56.0 points and ranks third in conference play in made free throws per game (13.2), but is just 1-5 overall this winter at home.

REWRITING THE THREE-POINT RECORD BOOKS
•    After breaking the all-time three-point field goal record of Erin Young '15 last Wednesday against Coast Guard, Mollica broke her own single-season record on Saturday at WPI. 
•    She has 195 career triples and has made 71 this season to surpass her previous mark of 68 set last year. 
•    Mollica currently ranks first in career three-pointers per game (2.47) and three-point field goal percentage (41.3), and her 3.74 three-pointers per game this winter tops the single-season list. 

DOWN TO THE WIRE
•    Since returning from the holiday break on December 30, seven of Babson's last 10 games have been decided by seven points or fewer. 
•    The Beavers own a 67-65 win over Springfield on January 15, Saturday's three-point triumph over WPI and a 57-53 victory over Connecticut College on December 30. 
•    Four of Babson's five losses have come by seven points or less and it held a lead in the fourth quarter in four of the five contests. 

COMING THROUGH IN THE CLUTCH
•    After missing her only field goal attempt over the first three quarters, Davis went 3-of-4 from behind the arc and dished out a pair of assists to help account for 14 of Babson's 19 points in the fourth on Saturday at WPI. 

BABSON TRENDS
•    Reale, who has at least one steal in 27 of her last 28 games, is one of three players in the NEWMAC that ranks in the top 10 in both offensive rebounds and steals along with Sofia Neary of Salve Regina and Alex Twomey of Mount Holyoke. 
•    Mollica has connected on multiple three-pointers in 17 consecutive games and is shooting 57.1 percent (36-of-63) from behind the arc over her last seven outings. 
•    Junior Allessia Carlo has scored in double figures twice and is averaging 7.7 points over the last four games. 
•    Over the last three games, Perreault is averaging 6.3 points and 3.0 rebounds while shooting 53.8 percent (7-of-13). 

NUMBERS TO KNOW
•    The Beavers are 7-3 over their last 10 NEWMAC road games dating back to January 24 of last season. 
•    Babson is 6-0 this winter when shooting at least 40 percent from the field. 
•    The Green and White has outrebounded 17 of its first 19 opponents and owns a 5.6 rebounding margin. 
•    The Beavers are 7-2 this season and 20-4 over the last two years when holding their opponents under 60 points.

•    Babson will play the first of two straight games inside Staake Gymnasium when it faces Wheaton at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
