CARRABASSETT VALLEY, Maine—The Babson College men's alpine ski team finished first in the slalom to capture its second consecutive United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association (USCSA) Eastern Regional Championships crown on Sunday afternoon at Sugarloaf Mountain. 

Coming off a second-place finish in Saturday's giant slalom, the Beavers finished 0.78 seconds ahead of second-place Castleton. Clarkson, UMass and UConn placed third through fifth as the MacConnell Division swept the top five spots for the second day in a row. Babson claimed its sixth regional title in 12 seasons going back to 2013 and repeated as champions for the first time since 2013 and 2014, while qualifying for nationals for the 18th season in a row. 

First-year James Rosenbloom (Stowe, Vt.) came in fourth in the slalom, which was limited to just run because of dangerous course conditions, with a time of 30.96 that was just 0.17 seconds off the pace of Edouard Brochu of Clarkson. Classmate Connor Roy (Wellesley, Mass.) finished seventh with a time of 31.44 and junior Elliot Perretta (Annecy, France) was ninth with a time of 31.68. 

First-year Moksh Patel (Edgewater, N.J.) placed 23rd with a time of 33.12, while senior Zach Carpenter (Boulder, Colo.) secured 29th position with a time of 33.99. 

Peretta recorded top-five finishes in both the GS and slalom on the way to finishing fourth in the combined standings. Roy was three spots behind him in seventh place, Patel came in 18th and Carpenter was 21st for the Beavers. 

Babson will return to action at the USCSA National Championships, which begin on March 10 at Mount Bachelor in Bend, Ore.
