Men's Basketball Travels to High-Scoring UMass Dartmouth on Friday Night

SERIES HISTORY

•    Babson is just 2-8 all-time against UMass Dartmouth in a series that dates back to the 1955-56 campaign. 
•    The teams met seven times from 1955-59 but last year's matchup was the first between the Beavers and Corsairs since 1989. 
•    The Green and White will play its first road game in the series since December 1980 on Friday. 

LAST MEETING
•    Josh Lopes scored 18 of his team-high 30 points in the second half and UMass Dartmouth overcame a 16-point deficit to defeat the Beavers, 87-82, on November 23, 2024, in Babson Park. 
•    Isaac Percy scored 20 points and Ryan Flauto added 18 points on 8-of-12 shooting to go along with a game-high eight rebounds and three blocks for the Corsairs, who scored 25 points off turnovers and went 18-of-19 at the free throw line in the victory. 
•    Nate Amado '25 poured in a game-high 31 points on 10-of-15 shooting and Felix Kloman M'25 added 21 points, five rebounds and four steals for Babson, which opened the game with a 15-2 run and led 54-38 with 17:22 to go in the second half. 

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
•    Babson (4-0) stayed unbeaten by rallying from a 13-point halftime deficit for a 77-73 win at Lasell on Tuesday night. 
•    First-year Thomas Ferdinando scored 14 of his team-high 19 points in the second half, senior Timmy O'Toole finished with 16 points and 13 rebounds, and junior Marc Begin II and sophomore Timmy Mulvey each contributed 11 points for the Beavers, who shot 59.3 percent in the second half while erasing a 60-49 deficit with under 11 minutes to play. 
•    Ferdinando (16.3 pts, 2.3 ast) has scored in double figures in all four games while making 17 three-pointers, O'Toole (14.5 pts, 9.5 reb) has two double-doubles and is shooting 74.3 percent from the floor, and Mulvey (13.8 pts, 4.0 ast) is tied for the team lead in assists and is shooting 55.6 percent from beyond the arc. 
•    The Green and White is averaging 1.13 points per possession on 48.3 percent shooting and also owns an offensive rebounding rate of 37.5 percent. 

SCOUTING THE CORSAIRS
•    UMass Dartmouth (3-1) is looking to bounce back from its first loss of the season after falling 94-77 at No. 19 WPI on Tuesday night. 
•    Cam Dunbury finished with 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting and a team-high nine rebounds, Danny Reyes scored 17 points and Mahdee McNair and Darius Peterson added 13 and 12 points, respectively, for the Corsairs, who trailed by 11 at the break after shooting just 38.7 percent in the first half. 
•    McNair (16.5 pts, 3.3 reb, 2.0 stl) has scored in double figures in all four games and leads the team in steals, Nic Boyd (15.3 pts, 7.5 ast) ranks third in Division III in assists, and Dunbury (13.5 pts, 6.0 reb, 2.3 blocks) is shooting a team-best 64.7 percent from the floor. 
•    UMass Dartmouth ranks ninth nationally in adjusted offense scoring 1.22 points per possession on 51.2 percent shooting and enters Friday's game with seven players averaging double figures in scoring. 

BRENNAN JOINS THE 500-WIN CLUB
•    With Friday last night's victory over Tufts, head coach Stephen Brennan became the 42nd coach in Division III history to reach the 500-win milestone. 
•    The 2017 NABC Coach of the Year, Brennan ranks ninth among active Division III coaches in victories, Brennan joins Virginia Wesleyan's Dave Macedo and Trinity's James Cosgrove as the only coaches on the list with a national championship. 
•    His counterpart on Friday night, UMass Dartmouth head coach Brian Baptiste, is in his 43rd year leading the Corsairs and ranks first among active Division III coaches and 10th all-time with 732 career wins. 

MULVEY EARNS NEWMAC RECOGNITION
•    After averaging 16.5 points and 3.5 assists while shooting 68.8 percent from the floor in wins over Albertus Magnus and Tufts, Mulvey was selected as the NEWMAC Offensive Player of the Week on Monday. 
•    The reigning conference rookie of the year, Mulvey shot 69.2 percent (9-of-13) from beyond the arc and matched his season high with five assists in last Friday's victory over the fourth-ranked Jumbos. 

HISTORY LESSON
•    Babson has won each of its first four games by exactly four points which marks the first time in program history it has started the season with four games decided by five points or less. 
•    The last time the Beavers had four games decided by four points or less came during the 2008-09 campaign when it defeated Wheaton 69-67 in OT on February, MIT 69-67 on February 11, lost to Coast Guard 53-51 on February and then were defeated by Springfield 47-44 on February 18. 

GETTING AFTER IT ON THE GLASS
•    The Beavers have outrebounded three of their first four opponents this season and rank 30th in Division III with a +10.0 rebounding margin. 
•    Senior Tyler Lauder has pulled down 10 or more boards in three of the first four games and is averaging a team-high 9.8 caroms, and he and O'Toole have combined for 28 of Babson's 48 offensive rebounds on the year. 
•    The Green and White has won 14 of the last 16 games when it wins the rebounding battle since the start of the 2024-25 campaign.

NUMBERS TO KNOW
•    The Beavers are holding their opponents to just 29.5 percent shooting from beyond the arc through four games. 
•    Babson is 10-1 going back to the start of last season when it scores at least 80 points.
•    The Green and White is 8-1 since the start of last year when it outscores its foes at the free throw line.
•    The Beavers have won their last 12 games going back to February 2024 when it knocks down 10 or more three-point field goals.
