BABSON PARK, Mass.—The Babson College women's volleyball program had four players named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Region II first team for the first time in program history on Wednesday night.
Junior
Zoe Ackerman (Aurora, Colo.) received all-region first-team accolades for the third consecutive season, while senior
Isabella Allen (Williamsville, N.Y.), junior
Hailey Fouche (Montclair, N.J.) and sophomore
Angelina Holm (Denver, Colo.) were all recognized for the first time in their respective careers.
Babson also received four all-region selections back in 2018, which included three first-team picks and one honorable mention.
Ackerman has set new career highs in assists (1,042), digs (219), service aces (71) and total blocks (49) and is averaging 9.06 assists while helping the Beavers hit .226 as a team. She ranks second in Region II in service aces and third in assists per set, needs just six assists to become the program's new single-season record holder, and has recorded the most aces by any Babson player since 2001.
A three-year starter for the Green and White, Ackerman ranks third in program history with 2,875 assists and is fifth with 179 service aces.
Allen has put together a terrific senior campaign totaling 271 kills and averaging a team-high 2.66 kills and 2.79 points per set while hitting a career-best .220 in 28 matches. She has recorded double-digit kills 15 times and ranks second on the team with 285.0 points.
Allen has appeared in 118 matches over her four-year career and ranks fifth in program history with 929 kills and is ninth all-time with 971.0 points.
Fouche has seen action in 29 of 30 matches this fall and totaled new career highs in both kills (232) and blocks (63) and has totaled a team-high 291.5 points this fall. She is averaging careers highs of 2.97 blocks, 2.37 kills and 0.65 blocks per set to go along with the best hitting percentage (.226) over her first three seasons.
Holm has appeared in 29 of 30 matches and has set new career highs in points (282.0), kills (206) and total blocks (87) to go along with a team-high .334 hitting percentage. She ranks second on the team in blocks per set (0.86) and is third in both points (2.79) and kills per set (2.04). Additionally, Holm's hitting percentage is the fourth best in single-season program history, and her 87 blocks rank fifth in Region II.
Babson defeated No. 20 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in five set in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament on Thursday and will face No. 7 Colby in the second round on Friday at 4:30 p.m. in Middletown, Conn.
