Men's Basketball Set for Road Test at Albertus Magnus on Tuesday Night

SERIES HISTORY 

•    Babson is 2-2 all-time against Albertus Magnus in a series that dates back to 2016.
•    The home team has won each of the four previous matches, which includes a four-point victory in 2017 and a three-point triumph by the Falcons in 2023 inside "The Nest". 

LAST MEETING
•    Felix Kloman M'25 led three players in double figures with 20 points on 6-of-11 shooting and Alex Stoddard M'25 knocked down four three-pointers and finished with 15 points off the bench to help the Beavers pull away for an 83-50 win over Albertus Magnus on November 27, 2024, in Babson Park. 
•    Junior NeJohn Fortes scored 10 points, senior Timmy O'Toole grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds to go along with nine points, and sophomore Timmy Mulvey also chipped in with nine points for Babson, which knocked down 16 three-pointers and opened the second half with a 23-5 run. 
•    Kevin Crawford scored 10 points and Malcolm Duncanson added eight points for the Falcons, who shot just 33.3 percent and were held to their lowest scoring output since 2010. 

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
•    Babson (1-0) built a 10-point second-half lead and then outlasted Brandeis 86-82 in OT in its season opener on Saturday night. 
•    Senior Timmy O'Toole posted career highs of 26 points and 17 rebounds and first-year Thomas Ferdinando added 14 points and two steals in his collegiate debut to pace four players in double figures for the Beavers, who shot 44.3 percent from the floor while outrebounding the Judges 52-29. 
•    The Green and White returns a pair of starters and 12 players in all from a team that finished 16-10 overall last winter. 
•    Mulvey earned NEWMAC Rookie of the Year honors after averaging 9.5 points and 2.5 assists to go along with a 1.91 assist-to-turnover ratio, O'Toole (5.6 pts, 5.9 reb) shot 51.8 percent, and sophomore Ryan Frauenheim contributed 5.3 points and 1.5 assists in 26 games.  

SCOUTING THE FALCONS
•    Albertus Magnus (0-1) opened the season with a 71-64 loss to Swarthmore on Saturday afternoon. 
•    Ta'zhon Daniels scored 15 points and dished out five assists, Ray Ford Jr. had 11 points and Isaiah Earl added eight points, nine rebounds, three assists and two blocks for the Falcons, who led by as many as 16 late in the first half but were outscored 43-28 after the break. 
•    Albertus Magnus, which was picked to finish third in the GNAC preseason poll, returns three starters and nine players in all from a squad that went 16-11 and advanced to the conference semifinals last winter. 
•    Daniels (17.0 pts, 3.9 ast, 2.0 stl) led the team in both scoring and assists, Ford (15.1 pts, 4.5 reb, 3.0 ast) knocked down a team-high 64 three-pointers, and Jayquan Kirkland (11.2 pts) shot 42.9 percent from beyond the arc in 22 games off the bench. 

O'TOOLE COLLECTS CONFERENCE HONOR
•    After setting career highs in both points and rebounds in Saturday's opener, O'Toole was tabbed as the NEWMAC Defensive Player of the Week on Monday. 
•    In addition to his 26 points and 17 boards, O'Toole had three steals and two blocked shots, the last of which came midway through overtime after the Beavers had taken the lead for good at 79-78. 

POLL RESULTS 
•    Coming off last year's third-place finish, the Beavers were picked to come in second in the NEWMAC preseason coaches' poll back in late October. 
•    One of four program's to picked first, Babson received a pair of first-place votes to finish behind defending NEWMAC regular season champions WPI and ahead of third-place Clark, which defeated the Engineers in last season's conference tournament final. 

BRENNAN CLOSES IN ON 500 WINS
•    Now in his 31st season as the head coach at Babson, Stephen Brennan is now just wins shy of 500 for his career thanks to Saturday's victory over Brandeis. 
•    The 2017 NABC Division III Coach of the Year, Brennan ranks first among NEWMAC coaches and ninth among active Division III coaches in wins. 
•    He has guided the Beavers to eight NCAA Tournament appearances over the last 12 years, which includes capturing the program's first national championship in 2017 after reaching the national semifinals in 2015. 

BEAVER BITES
•    Senior Tyler Lauder scored four points, grabbed 11 rebounds and dished out a game-high six assists over 32 minutes of Saturday's win against Brandeis. 
•    First-year Robby Fiore came off the bench to score 11 points on 4-of-5 shooting in his Babson debut, while sophomore Gavin Aydelotte came off the bench to provide nine points and one blocked shot in 16 minutes in his first game with the Beavers. 
•    Mulvey knocked down three three-pointers and doled out five assists, and sophomore Logan Murphy scored eight points and grabbed a career-best seven rebounds while playing a career-high 31 minutes versus the Judges. 
•    O'Toole's 17 rebounds are the most by a Babson player since December 4, 2021, when Kieran Dorney pulled down 21 in an OT win over Salem State. 

NUMBERS TO KNOW
•    The Beavers were 8-0 last season when holding their opponents below 40 percent shooting.
•    Babson hit 11 three-pointers in Saturday's season-opening win and are now 9-0 going back to the start of the 2024-25 campaign when making at least 10 triples. 
•    The Green and White is 12-2 dating back to the start of last year when outrebounding its foes. 
•    Six of Babson's 12 road games last season were decided by six points or fewer.
