DOUGLASVILLE, Ga.—Sophomore
Aman Vantipalli (Alpharetta, Ga.) matched the low score of the day with a bogey free 3-under 68 and tied for 11th place overall at 2-over as the Babson College men's golf team came in 14th at the West Pines Collegiate at West Pines Golf Club on Tuesday afternoon.
The Beavers' 10-over 294 was their lowest score in three rounds over the last two days and helped them conclude the 54-hole event at 38-over 890. Rhodes came in first at 2-over 854, which was nine shot better than 21st-ranked Mary Hardin-Baylor. Piedmont (867), Southern Virginia (868) and No. 3 Oglethorpe (868) rounded out the top five.
Vantipalli opened his round with six consecutive pars before making his first birdie at the par-5 17th hole. He made another birdie at the par-4 second hole and added his third of the round at the par-5 eighth to finish the tournament with a score of 2-over 215.
Junior
Jack Berry (Western Springs, Ill.) made two birdies and four bogeys as part of a 2-over 74 on Tuesday, while senior
Colin Fowler (Portland, Ore.) birdied his final hole of the day, the par-4 11th to post a 5-over 76. Fowler tied for 52nd place at 12-over 225, while Berry tied for 73rd position at 17-over 230.
Sophomore
Chad Tordone (Barnstable, Mass.) shot a 6-over 77 in the final round to finish with a 54-hole total of 13-over 226, which was good for a tie for 52nd place. Graduate student
Trevor Connolly (South Weymouth, Mass.) made three birdies as part of a 9-over 80 that left him in a tie for 84th at 19-over 232.
Babson concludes the fall portion of its schedule on October 13-14 at the Tartan Invitational at Laurel Valley Golf Club in Ligonier, Pa.
TOURNAMENT NOTES
• The Beavers own a 293.25 team scoring average in eight rounds over the last three seasons at West Pines Golf Club.
• Vantipalli, who shot 2-over to tie for ninth at last-year's tournament, has finished under par twice and boasts a 71.67 stroke average in six career rounds at the West Pines Collegiate.
• Vantipalli also was among a group of six in the 108-player field not to make a double bogey over 54 holes.
