Colin Fowler (Portland, Ore.) posted the team's low round of the day with an even-par 71 in round one and sophomore
Aman Vantipalli (Alpharetta, Ga.) is 5-over through two rounds as the Babson College men's golf team sits in 14th place through 36 holes at the West Pines Collegiate.
The Beavers shot 295-301 to finish the day at 28-over 596. Rhodes (6-under 562) holds a 10-stroke lead over No. 3 Oglethopre (572), while Piedmont (575), No. 21 Mary Hardin-Baylor (577) and Southern Virginia (577) round out the top five.
Vantipalli shot 73-74 and is tied for 33rd position after two rounds. He made three birdies over his final six holes in the morning to get back to 2-over and added a birdie on his closing hole in the afternoon to end the day at 5-over 147.
Fowler and sophomore
Chad Tordone (Barnstable, Mass.) are tied for 47th position at 7-over 149 after two rounds. Fowler, who eagled the par-5 17th hole in round one followed it up with a 78 in the afternoon, while Tordone also made an eagle on No. 17 on the way opening with a 72 before carding a 6-over 77 in the second round.
Graduate student
Trevor Connolly (South Weymouth, Mass.) shot 79-73 in his Babson debut and is tied for 67th position at 10-over 152. He played his final 13 holes in 1-over after a tough start to his opening round and made three birdies over his final seven holes in the afternoon to move up 12 spots on the leaderboard.
Junior
Jack Berry (Western Springs, Ill.) carded rounds of 80-77 and will enter Tuesday's final round in a tie for 90th place.
Final round play at West Pines Golf Club will begin at 8:45 a.m. on Tuesday.
TOURNAMENT NOTES
• The Beavers own a 293.14 team scoring average in seven rounds at the West Pines Collegiate but Monday's scores were two of the three highest over the last three seasons.
• Babson tied for fourth in the 21-team field in par-5 scoring at 4-under on Monday.
• Vantipalli was the only Babson player to avoid making a double bogey on Monday and joined Fowler in making a team-high five birdies.
