LAKE PLACID, N.Y.—Sophomore
Mads Fondevik Syversen (Oslo, Norway) recorded the fastest second run time to finish atop the podium for the third consecutive race as the Babson College men's alpine ski team finished first in the giant slalom at Whiteface Mountain on Friday afternoon.
The Beavers' top three competitors finished more than 12 seconds ahead of second-place Clarkson to claim their fifth victory in five races to begin the season. UConn came in third and Castleton edged out UMass for fourth place.
Syversen was 0.46 seconds off the pace of Valero Echegoyen Pajares of Castleton following his first trip down the hill but was the only MacConnell Division skier to finish his second run in under a minute to take first place by 0.76 seconds with a time of 1:58.46. First-year
James Rosenbloom (Stowe, Vt.) came in fourth with a time of 2:00.68 and junior
Elliot Perretta (Annecy, France) was just 0.10 seconds behind him in fifth position.

Connor Roy (Wellesley, Mass.) came in eighth in a time of 2:03.3, while classmate
Moksh Patel (Edgewater, N.J.) was less than a second behind him in 10th place with a two-run time of 2:04.12. Junior

Allesio Della Casa (Geneva, Switzerland) placed 21st with his time of 2:12.77.
Babson will return to the slopes a second giant slalom race at Whiteface on Saturday at 10 a.m.
