Box Score BABSON PARK, Mass.—Senior Sydney Briscoe (Englewood, N.J.) scored a game-high 15 points and knocked down the go-ahead free throw with 2:02 remaining to help visiting Maine Maritime Academy defeat Babson College, 59-54, in the Judy Pearson '85 Memorial Tournament on Thursday evening inside Staake Gymnasium.
Babson, which dropped the tournament opener for the second year in a row, slips to 6-5 on the year. Maine Maritime has won four consecutive games to improve to 7-2 overall.
Senior
Emily Flynn (Hanover, Mass.) scored 14 points, sophomore
Samantha Reale (North Attleboro, Mass.) added 12 points, 13 rebounds and two steals, and senior
Camilla Silk (Medfield, Mass.) finished with 10 points, 13 boards and two assists to lead the Beavers. Fellow senior
Katelyn Mollica (Foxborough, Mass.) scored nine points, while junior
Allessia Carlo (Carmel, N.Y.) led all players with three steals in the loss.
Briscoe finished 7-of-8 shooting and grabbed a team-high nine rebounds, while senior Erianna Moore (Fitchburg, Mass.) contributed 14 points, a game-high five assists and two steals to pace the Mariners. Classmate Makenzie Monzon (Orlando, Fla.) also chipped in with nine points and seven boards in the victory.
The Green and White got early three-pointers from Flynn, Mollica and Carlo and took its largest lead of the game at 12-4 on a jumper by junior
Chloe Perreault (Danbury, Conn.) with 3:44 to go in the opening stanza. Mollica stopped a 6-0 Maine Maritime run with another ripple and Reale made two free throws to make it 17-10 on the opening possession of the second, but the Beavers were outscored 15-6 over the remainder of the quarter and trailed 25-23 at the half.
Babson used an 8-0 spurt that included five points from Flynn to go back in front 38-33 with 4:27 to go in the third only to see the Mariners respond with 10 of the next 12 points to regain a 43-40 edge 14 seconds into the fourth. Silk and Flynn combined for eight of the Beavers' next 10 points as they went ahead 50-49 at the 4:39 mark before the lead changed hands for the sixth time in the quarter on Maine Maritime junior Evelyn Dagan's (Castine, Maine) three-pointer with 4:10 to go.
Briscoe went 1-of-2 at the charity stripe to break a 52-all deadlock with just over two minutes to play and Blanchard extended the margin to 55-52 with a layup after grabbing an offensive rebound with 1:30 remaining. The Green and White committed turnovers on two its next three possessions and the visitors went 4-of-6 at the free throw line over the final 36 seconds to seal the win.
The Beavers, who finished with a 43-37 edge on the glass, shot a season-low 30.4 percent from the floor and were just 6-of-25 from three-point range. The Mariners shot 50 percent in the second half and 43.6 percent for the game and ended with a 32-22 edge in paint scoring.
Both teams wrap up the tournament on Friday as Babson hosts Rivier at 5 p.m., while Maine Maritime takes on WPI at 3 p.m.

• The Beavers are now 1-1 all-time against Maine Maritime and 8-3 in the Judy Pearson '85 Memorial Tournament.
