LUDLOW, Vt.—Sophomore
Mads Fondevik Syversen (Oslo, Norway) finished atop the podium in his Babson College debut to help the men's alpine ski team open the season with a first-place finish in the slalom at Okemo Mountain on Sunday afternoon.
The Beavers' top three finishers were just over a second and a half faster than second place Castleton. Clarkson came in third a little more than eight seconds off the pace set by the Green and White.
Syversen, a transfer from Rocky Mountain College, recorded the fastest first-run time of any MacConnell Division competitor and finished his two runs in a time of 1:31.00 to edge Marin Vigneras of UMass by 0.12 seconds. Junior
Elliot Perretta (Annecy, France) came in fifth in his Beavers' debut with a time of 1:31.91 and first-year
Connor Roy (Wellesley, Mass.) was one spot behind him in sixth position with a time of 1:32.51.

James Rosenbloom (Stowe, Vt.) placed eighth in his first collegiate race with a time of 1:33.14, while classmate
Moksh Patel (Edgewater, N.J.) finished 13th with a two-run time of 1:35.17. Junior
Sebastian Sheppard (Park City, Utah) posted a time of 1:37.91 to come in 20th and first-year
Jett Sheppard (Park City, Utah) was 26th with a time of 1:40.31.
Babson will conclude the opening weekend of the season with the giant slalom at Okemo on Monday at 10 a.m.
