No. 20 Men's Soccer Heads to No. 5 Tufts for Battle of Unbeatens on Tuesday Night

SERIES HISTORY

•    Babson is 9-10-2 all-time against Tufts in a series that dates back to 1965. 
•    The sides have split their last four matches going back to 2019, which includes back-to-back scoreless draws over the last two seasons.
•    Excluding the Jumbos overtime marker in 2021, they have combined with the Beavers for seven consecutive scoreless halves against each other going back to 2021. 
•    The Green and White is seeking its first win in Medford since 1997 although the teams did not meet between 2001-16. 

LAST MEETING
•    Senior goalkeeper Walker White made five saves to help the Beavers earn a 0-0 draw with Tufts on October 3, 2023, in Babson Park. 
•    White kicked away a shot by Liam Gerken in the 36th minute for the Green and White, which outshot the visitors 13-11 in the match. 
•    Nikola Antic also made five saves for the Jumbos, which included tipping a 30-yard blast by Babson senior Samuel Kalishman over the crossbar in the 70th minute. 

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
•    No. 20 Babson (4-0-5) remained unbeaten with a 2-0 victory at Brandeis on Saturday afternoon. 
•    Graduate student Kento Abe and junior Liam Goldstein scored seven minutes apart late in the first half, graduate student Tyler Fidrych assisted on both goals and White made three saves for the Beavers, who won in Waltham for the first time since 2002. 
•    Graduate student James Donaldson (2-2-6), Goldstein (2-0-4) and junior Joao Araujo (2-0-4) have combined for six of the team's 10 goals, Fidrych has registered a team-high three assists and Abe (1-2-4) and junior James Modiano (1-2-4) both have a game-winning goal. 
•    White has started all nine matches and boasts a 0.56 goals against average and a .821 save percentage to go along with four clean sheets. 

SCOUTING THE JUMBOS
•    No. 5 Tufts (7-0-1) has won four consecutive games after rolling past Wesleyan, 4-1, on Saturday. 
•    Ethan Feigin scored twice and Taylor Feinberg and Xavier Canfin each added a goal, and Antic made five saves for the Jumbos, who built a 3-0 lead in the 18th minute after scoring three times in a span of 5:02. 
•    Gerken (3-3-9) has produced a point in four consecutive matches,  Canfin (3-0-6) has scored in two of the last three games and the Feigin, Henry Perkins and Bijan Akhtarzandi-Das all have two goals on the season for a team that has outscored its foes 16-3. 
•    Antic has started all eight contests and owns a 0.25 goals against average and a .941 save percentage while posting five shutouts. 

BATTLE OF THE UNBEATENS
•    Babson and Tufts are two of 19 Division III squads that enter the weekend without a loss. 
•    The Beavers have conceded just five goals in nine matches, while the Jumbos have been scored on just three times in eight games. 
•    The Green and White has trailed for just 28:22 this season, while Tufts has not faced a deficit since its sectional semifinal loss to Washington & Lee last November. 

GOLDSTEIN CLAIMS CONFERENCE HONOR
•    After helping the Green and White earn a 1-1 draw with No. 25 Amherst and a shutout victory over Brandeis, Goldstein was selected as the NEWMAC Defensive Player of the Week on Monday. 
•    In addition to his goal just before halftime, he kept the game scoreless by heading a Judges scoring chance off the goal line following a free kick in the 20th minute. 

STREAKING BEAVERS
•    Babson is 9-0-10 with 11 shutouts over its last 19 regular season matches, a stretch that dates back to September 27 of last year. 
•    The Green and White is unbeaten in 12 consecutive games on the road since suffering a 1-0 loss at Stevens back on September 10, 2023. 
•    The Beavers have either been ahead or tied going into halftime in 12 straight contests dating back to last year's NEWMAC Tournament semifinals. 
•    Babson has tied three straight NESCAC foes, including Wesleyan and No. 25 Amherst this season. 

GRADS GETTING IT DONE
•    Abe, Donaldson and Fidrych combined for five points in Saturday's victory at Brandeis, which snapped a run of seven consecutive road draws for the Beavers. 
•    Abe, who played in 29 games at Maryland from 2021-23, scored his first career goal in the 37th minute thanks to assists by Fidrych and Donaldson. 
•    Abe and Fidrych then set up Goldstein's header off a corner kick with just 1:09 to go before halftime. 

NUMBERS TO KNOW
•    The Beavers' nine-game unbeaten streak to start the year is their longest since 1990. 
•    Babson is 15-1-11 since the start of the 2023 campaign when it concedes one goal or fewer. 
•    The Green and White is 14-2-6 in the month of October since 2021 and owns a 13-game unbeaten streak (8-0-5) dating back to 2022.
•    Babson is 39-1-5 when scoring the opening goal of the match since the start of the 2021 season.
