BABSON PARK, Mass.—Four members of the Babson College men's ice hockey program were recognized for their success in the classroom when the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) announced their eighth annual Krampade All-American Scholars in late June.
Juniors
Michael Holland (Charlotte, N.C.) and
Brendan Murphy (Arlington, Mass.) and sophomores
Will Holland (Charlotte, N.C.) and
Egan Schmitt (Schuylerville, N.Y.) were among 550 Division II and III players honored by the AHCA and Krampade. To qualify, a student-athlete must have attained a 3.75 grade-point average in each semester during the 2023-24 season while appearing in at least 40 percent of the team's games.
Will Holland and Schmitt were both recognized for the second consecutive year. Holland played in all 26 games and produced three goals and seven assists for 10 points to finish third among defensemen in scoring. Schmitt also saw action in all 26 contests and tied for the team lead in both goals (10) and power play goals (4) in addition to recording five assists for 15 points.
Michael Holland made his Babson debut against Milwaukee School of Engineering in the season opener on October 27 before missing much of the first half of the season due to injury. Murphy returned to the lineup on January following offseason surgery and recorded his lone assist of the season in the Beavers' 4-0 win at New England College in his season debut.
Babson concluded the 2023-24 season with an overall record of 14-10-2 after falling to Elmira in the NEHC Tournament quarterfinals back in February.
