BABSON PARK, Mass.—Babson College head field hockey coach
Julie Ryan announced the appointment of
Meghan Evans as the program's new full-time assistant coach on Wednesday afternoon.
Evans comes to Babson following a two-year stint as a graduate assistant coach at fellow New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) member Smith College. She was involved in all facets of the program while coaching a pair of National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) All-Region selections as the Pioneers advanced to the conference semifinals in 2022 and matched their most league wins since 2017 last fall.
"We are thrilled to add Meghan to our coaching staff," said Ryan. "Her strong playing and coaching experience will really help her hit the ground running for us. Meghan has high energy, passion, and competitiveness that will make her a perfect fit for our program."
A 2021 graduate of Trinity College with a bachelor's degree in public policy and law, Evans was a four-year member of the field hockey program and served as team captain as a senior. She started 15 of 20 games and produced one goal and one assist for three points in her final season as the Bantams defeated Babson in the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals before falling to Johns Hopkins University in the semifinals.
In addition to her collegiate playing and coaching experience, Evans has coached with the Cape Ann Field Hockey Club since February 2022. Additionally, she has served as a tournament assistant at major recruiting events for 3Step Sports over the last two years.
I am very grateful for the opportunity to join
Julie Ryan and Babson Athletics as the assistant field hockey coach," commented Evans. "Babson reputation for academic and athletic excellence is unparalleled. The commitment the student-athletes, alumni and friends of the program show just how special it is to be a part of. I am thankful for the opportunity to contribute to the tradition and the culture that Julie has built at Babson."
A native of Hookset, N.H., Evans recently finished her master's degree in exercise and sport studies at Smith.
