No. 21 Women's Tennis Hosts Wellesley in Regular Season Finale on Saturday

SERIES HISTORY

•    Babson is 12-33 all-time against Wellesley in a series that dates back to 1989.
•    The Beavers have won two straight and nine of their last 12 matches against the Blue.
•    The Green and White has won six consecutive matches at home versus Wellesley going back to the fall of 2014. 

LAST MEETING
•    Senior Adèle Fernández, junior Olivia Soffer and sophomore Matia Cristiani both won in both singles and doubles to help the Beavers defeat Wellesley, 7-2, on April 18, 2023, in Babson Park. 
•    Soffer and Cristiani won 8-3 at number one doubles cruised to straight-set victories at the top two singles flights, while Fernández teamed with sophomore Elena Keitt for an 8-3 victory at number three doubles before defeating Emilee Pak in three sets at number four singles. 
•    Pak and Isabella Deagazio were 8-7 winners at number two doubles and Jennifer Fan recorded a 6-4, 6-2 triumph at number five singles for the Blue. 

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
•    No. 21 Babson (11-5, 7-1 NEWMAC) has won two straight matches after defeating Wheaton, 9-0, on Tuesday afternoon. 
•    Keitt, sophomore Shyla Khattar and first-year Dana Kamal all picked up points in both singles and doubles for the Beavers, who also got singles victories from senior Jane Wang, junior Laetitia Rizk and sophomore Mariana Campos
•    Soffer is 17-2 overall and 11-1 at number one singles, Cristiani (23-1) is 11-0 at number and owns a 12-match winning streak, and Rizk is 10-8 overall and 4-1 in conference singles matches. 
•    Sofferand Cristiani are 25-2 in all matches and 11-1 at number one doubles, while the duo of Fernández and first-year Chaniel Soffer is 11-6 overall and 7-4 at number two doubles. 

SCOUTING THE BLUE
•    Wellesley (11-4, 6-1 NEWMAC), which plays at Salve Regina on Friday, is riding a five-match winning streak after rolling past Clark 9-0 on Tuesday afternoon. 
•    Pak, Annissa Mu, Melinda Alviar and Suzanne Xu all won 6-0, 6-0 in singles and the Blue dropped just three games across three doubles matches in the victory. 
•    Kriti Sarav is 15-5 with four wins apiece at number five and six singles, Xu is 13-4 overall with an 8-2 mark at number two and Pak is 14-6 in all matches, which includes a combined 8-4 record at third and fourth singles. 
•    Alviar and Mu are 9-5 at number one doubles, Pak and Xu are 8-5 at number two and Sarav and Lily Cade are 10-3 overall and 7-3 at number three. 

WHAT'S AT STAKE
•    The winner of Saturday's match will earn the No. 2 seed and a bye into the semifinals of next week's NEWMAC Tournament. 
•    The loser will be the third seed and host a quarterfinal match next Tuesday. 

SOFFER, CRISTIANI FEATURE IN LATEST ITA RANKINGS
•    Cristiani remained No. 2 in the newest ITA Division III singles rankings, which came out on Tuesday, while Soffer moved up from No. 17 after the fall to No. 7 as Babson and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps are the only schools with multiple players in the top 10. 
•    In addition to their lofty singles rankings, the duo also remained No. 2 among Division III doubles pairings. 

WEEKLY HONORS
•    Soffer and Cristiani swept this week's NEWMAC weekly honors for the third time this spring on Monday.
•    Soffer went 2-0 at number one singles last week against a pair of NEWMAC opponents and became the program's all-time leader in doubles wins as her and Cristiani stayed unbeaten at number one doubles in league play with a pair of wins last weekend.

HOME FINALE
•    Fernández, Wang and senior teammates Juliette Moschella and Shanaya Naik, who were honored last Saturday, will play their final regular season home match on Saturday. 
•    The quartet helped the Beavers win a NEWMAC regular season title and advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament in 2021, and were a key part of last year's historic season, which included a single-season record 17 wins, another conference regular season title and the program's first NCAA regional final appearance. 

NUMBERS TO KNOW
•    The Beavers have led after doubles in 13 of 15 matches this season. 
•    Babson is 10-0 this season when recording victories at both fourth and sixth singles.
