#11 Men's Tennis

No. 33 Men's Tennis Blanks No. 37 Hobart for Sixth Straight Win in Regular Season Finale, 9-0

Box Score BABSON PARK, Mass.— No. 33 Babson College got wins in both singles and doubles from graduate students Jonah Wilson (Gilbert, Ariz.) and Andrew Watson (Charlottesville, Va.), junior Ole Lepsoe (Oslo, Norway) and first-year Caymus Choi (Hong Kong, China) as the Beavers breezed to a 9-0 victory over No. 37 Hobart College in a non-conference men's tennis match Sunday morning at the Babson Tennis Courts.
 
With the victory, Babson winds up the regular season with a six-match winning streak, improving to 13-8 overall, while Hobart dropped to 13-5 with one match to go in its regular season.
 
The Green and White also got singles wins from senior Jose Gonzalez (Mexico City, Mexico) and first-year Kerem Ozlale (Istanbul, Turkey), while junior Wesley Zhang (Staten Island, N.Y.) and first-year Logan Back (Busan, South Korea) were on winning doubles teams.
 
The Beavers got things going with a sweep in the doubles matches. Lepsoe and Back defeated senior Sean Pesin (Tel-Aviv, Israel) and sophomore Nick Fischer (Maryland Heights, Mo.) at number one, 8-3; Watson and Wilson registered an 8-5 victory over juniors Troy Steiner (Newburgh, N.Y.) and Hyat Oyer (New York, N.Y.) at number two; and Zhang and Choi delivered an 8-2 verdict over senior Winter Fagerberg (New York, N.Y.) and junior Rahul Vallabhajosula (Wilton, Conn.) at number three.


Wilson took the number one singles match from Pesin, 6-3, 6-3, and Ozlale had little trouble with Fischer at number two, 6-1, 6-1. Lepsoe won the first set at number three, 6-4, before closing out the match with a 6-0 decision in the second set. The Beavers bested the Statesmen in the bottom two slots as Watson won 6-4, 6-2 over junior Nick Grosso (Greenfield Center, N.Y.) at number five and Gonzalez was a 6-2, 6-2 winner over Steiner at number six.
 
Hobart earned its only set win at number four but Choi pulled out the victory over Fagerberg in a third-set super-breaker, 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (10-3).
 
The Beavers are the No. 2 seed in the upcoming New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Tournament and will host third-seeded Coast Guard on Saturday at 12 p.m. at the Babson Tennis Courts. Hobert wraps up its regular season with a Liberty League match on Saturday at St. Lawrence at 12 p.m.
