Baseball Faces MIT on Tuesday at Govoni Field

SERIES HISTORY

•    Babson is 60-41-1 all-time against MIT in a series that dates back to 1980.
•    The Beavers took two of three from the Engineers last season and have won 16 of the last 22 meetings between the teams. 
•    The Green and White has won three of its last four games against MIT at Govoni Field. 

LAST MEETING
•    Graduate student Luke Tanner homered twice and finished with four RBI, and junior Justin Guest went 4-for-5 with a double and two RBI to help Babson defeat MIT, 14-8, last Tuesday in Cambridge. 
•    Senior Ike Kiely and first-year Alexander Wilson both had two hits and drove in two runs apiece, and senior Tanner Santos finished 3-for-5 with two doubles for the Beavers, who scored in each of the final seven innings. 
•    Kyle Sonandres went 3-for-5 with a home run, Reed Tubbs hit a three-run blast and Malachi Soqui added a two-run homer for the Engineers, who finished with 11 hits in the loss. 

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
•    Babson (10-6, 3-0 NEWMAC) extended its winning streak to seven by defeating UMass Dartmouth, 10-3, on Monday afternoon. 
•    Sophomore Connor Doan tossed seven shutout innings, classmate Ryan Hvozdovic went 3-for-4 with a double, three RBI and two runs scored, and Wilson finished with three hits and three runs batted in for the Beavers, who broke the game open with a five-run fourth inning. 
•    Savage is batting .380 with 10 doubles, five homers, 19 RBI and 17 runs scored, Santos is hitting .321 with six doubles, 18 RBI and 18 runs scored and Tanner enters the day with a .311 average to go along with three home runs and a team-high 20 runs batted in.
•    Sophomore James Clark is 1-1 with a 5.68 ERA and 20 strikeouts in 19.0 innings, junior Luke McClintock is 1-0 with a 3.27 ERA in five appearances and senior Jimmy Weick (0-1, 1.13 ERA) has recorded nine strikeouts in 8.0 innings of relief this spring. 

SCOUTING THE ENGINEERS
•    MIT (8-9, 0-3 NEWMAC) has dropped four straight games and is coming off a 16-6 seven-inning loss to No. 8 Salve Regina in game two of Saturday's doubleheader. 
•    Tubbs went 2-for-4, Eitan Moore singled and drove in two runs and both Soqui and Tyler Godfrey contributed an RBI single for the Engineers, who jumped out to a 6-0 second-inning lead before the Seahakws responded with 16 unanswered runs. 
•    Teddy Schoenfeld is batting .435 with five doubles, a home run, 12 RBI and 21 runs scored, Zev Moore is hitting .349 with seven extra-base hits and 12 runs batted in, and Michael Finch owns a .286 average to go along with four doubles, seven homer and 20 runs batted in. 
•    Karl Meyer is 2-2 with a 4.33 ERA and 36 strikeouts in 27.0 innings over five starts, Ethan Siegel (0-0) boasts a 2.93 ERA and 19 strikeouts in 15.1 innings pitched and Louis Hernandez is 1-0 with a 3.86 earned run average in six appearances out of the bullpen. 

SUCCESS AGAINST THE ENGINEERS
•    Despite going 1-for-5 last Tuesday in Cambridge, Savage is batting .421 (8-for-19) with two homers, two doubles, nine RBI and five runs scored over his last four games against MIT. 
•    Kiely is batting .360 (9-for-25) with three homers, nine RBI and 10 runs scored over his last seven games versus the Engineers, while sophomore Chris Basile was 6-for-12 with three runs batted in in three games against MIT last season. 

HOT AT THE PLATE
•    During his current five-game hitting streak, Wilson is batting .500 (9-for-18) with three doubles, five RBI and six runs scored. 
•    Over the last five games, Guest is batting .444 with a double, three RBI and six runs scored, and is hitting .415 with six doubles, eight RBI and 12 runs scored on the year. 

STREAKING BEAVERS
•    Santos has reached base safely in 17 consecutive starts going back to the end of last season and is second on the team with a .479 on-base percentage this spring. 
•    Graduate student John Nowak has a hit in five straight games, while Hvozdovic has recorded a base hit in four straight outings. 
•    Junior Jack Julian has reached base safely in eight consecutive games and has scored at least one run in each of his last 10 starts. 

STRONG STARTS
•    Over the last four games, Babson's starting pitchers have gone 4-0 with a 0.74 ERA and a 0.95 WHIP in 24.1 innings pitched. 
•    McClintock allowed one hit over 6.0 innings in last Wednesday's 2-0 win over Suffolk, graduate student Greg Nieskens gave up two runs on three hits over 6.0 innings of work in game one of Saturday's doubleheader against Emerson, and first-year Jason Finklestein followed it up with nine strikeouts over 5.1 shutout innings in game two against the Lions. 
•    Additionally, Doan put together the best start of his career in Monday's win, tossing 7.0 shutout innings to lead the Beavers past the Corsairs. 

NUMBERS TO KNOW
•    Babson is 5-0 this spring and 30-7 over the last three seasons at Govoni Field. 
•    The Beavers are 9-3 on the year when outhitting their opponents. 
•    The Green and White is 8-1 this season when leading after six innings. 
•    Babson is 3-1 this season in games decided by one or two runs.
