SCOUTING THE LIONS
• Emerson (3-10, 0-1 NEWMAC) has dropped its last nine games after suffering a 10-2 loss at Clark in its NEWMAC opener on Tuesday.
• Braeden O'Connoll doubled and drove in a pair of runs and Ethan Chathompalit was 1-for-3 with a run scored for the Lions, who were held to a season-low two hits in the loss.
• Briggs Loveland is batting .405 with two triples, two homers, seven RBI and nine runs scored, Ferara is hitting .366 with four doubles, a home run and 19 runs batted in, and Justin Fields enters the day with a .316 average to go along with three doubles and seven RBI.
• Chris Lowe is 1-1 with a 4.82 ERA and 19 strikeouts in 18.2 innings, Benny Guevara is 1-2 with a 5.40 ERA in 15.0 innings and Shane Moriarty (0-0, 3.00 ERA) has made four appearances out of the bullpen.
ONE-HIT WONDERS
• McClintock, Magee, Teator and junior
Matt Milone combined to toss the Beavers' first one-hitter on Wednesday versus Suffolk since April 5, 2017, when Michael Genaro '19 came within two outs of a no-hitter in an 8-0 win.
• McClintock struck out four and carried a no-hitter into the sixth, Milone and Magee were helped by the Beavers turning double plays in the seventh and eighth innings, and Teator recorded back-to-back strikeouts to start the ninth on the way to picking up his first career save.
NEW LOOK NEWMAC
• Salve Regina, which was ranked eighth in last week's D3baseball.com national poll, became the ninth member of the NEWMAC back in July.
• The Beavers and their league counterparts will now play a total of 16 conference games this season with each team playing either twice and the top six teams advancing to the conference playoffs.
• Babson, which advanced to last year's NEWMAC Tournament final, was picked third behind defending champions Wheaton and Salve Regina in the preseason coaches' poll.
LION HUNTER
• In six games against Emerson over the last two seasons, Santos is batting .471 (8-for-17) with four extra-base hits, 11 walks, four stolen bases and 11 runs scored.
BEAVER BITES
• Savage has reached base in 16 consecutive games, while Santos has reached safely in 15 straight outings.
• Hvozdovic, who owns a four-game hitting streak, has been on base in each of his last nine starts, while Nowak and first-year
