No. 13 Women's Tennis to Visit Mount Holyoke for NEWMAC Contest on Wednesday

SERIES HISTORY
• Babson is 28-9 all-time against Mount Holyoke in a series that dates back to 1988.
• The Beavers have won 19 straight matches over the Lyons since 2007, which includes shutouts in seven of the last nine meetings going back to 2014.

LAST MEETING
• Six players recorded points in both singles and doubles as 18th-ranked Babson clinched at least a share of the NEWMAC regular season title with a 9-0 win over Mount Holyoke on April 14, 2023 in South Hadley.
• The Green and White made quick work of the Lyons in doubles dropping just three games across three matches. Junior Olivia Soffer and sophomore Matia Cristiani won 8-1 at number one, senior Adèle Fernández and sophomore Elena Keitt breezed to an 8-1 victory at number two and sophomores Kamila Stasiowska and Mariana Campos posted an 8-1 result at number three.
• The Beavers won all six singles matches in straight sets with a line-up that featured Soffer at number one, Cristiani at number two, Stasiowska at number three, Keitt at number four, Campos at number five, and Fernandez at number six.

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
• No. 13 Babson (5-1, 2-0 NEWMAC) bounced back from its first loss of the season with a 9-0 triumph over Smith in a conference match on Saturday in Babson Park.
• Cristiani, Stasiowska and first-year Dana Kamal earned points in both singles and doubles for the Beavers, and senior Juliette Moschella, junior Laetitia Rizk and Campos won singles matches in the win. Cristiani and Olivia Soffer posted a win at No. 1 doubles, and Fernández and first-year Chaniel Soffer paired up for a victory at No. 2 doubles.
• Cristiani (16-1) is ranked third in Division III in singles, and Olivia Soffer (10-1) is ranked 17th. Rizk (7-4) is third on the team in singles wins, followed by Moschella (6-3), Chaniel Soffer (6-3), Campos (5-4), and Stasiowska (5-4).
• O. Soffer and Cristiani (19-1) are ranked No. 2 in Division III doubles. C. Soffer and Fernández have posted a 6-4 doubles record, including 3-2 at number two.

SCOUTING THE LYONS
• Mount Holyoke (7-2, 1-0 NEWMAC) has won four straight matches and is coming off a 5-4 conference victory over Springfield on Saturday in South Hadley, its first win over the Pride since 2018.
• The Lyons took two of three doubles matches, with junior Annika Chai and sophomore Kirat Kaur winning at number one and sophomore Cal Smith and first-year Rachel Allen winning at number two. The first three singles matches decided went Mount Holyoke's way to clinch the team win. Kaur won at number two, Allen was victorious at number three, and first-year Natali Kostadinovic sewed up the team verdict with a victory at number six in her collegiate debut.
• Mount Holyoke has also posted wins this spring over Gordon, Western New England, Puerto Rico Mayaguez and Puerto Rico Rio Piedras, while suffering a loss to Bates.
• The Lyons were picked to finish seventh in the NEWMAC preseason coaches' poll.

CONFERENCE DOMINANCE
• The Beavers have posted a 17-2 regular season record against NEWMAC foes over the past four seasons, and a 46-7 mark going back to 2015.
• The only conference losses in the past eight years were to MIT (five times) and Wellesley (twice).
• The Green and White won six of their eight conference matches last season by 9-0 scores on the way to capturing the regular season title.

REWRITING THE RECORD BOOK
Olivia Soffer, who became the program's all-time combined wins leader at the ITA Cup back in October, surpassed Rebecca Stone's '12 record of 59 singles wins with her victory against Redlands on March 12. 
• Soffer boasts a 62-7 career singles record and owns 117 combined singles and doubles victories in her time at Babson. 
• Her 55 wins in doubles is tied for sixth in school history but are just five behind the record of 60 set by Francesca Russo '06 from 2002-06.

CLIMBING THE RANKS
• Cristiani has moved into the top 15 on the Babson all-time combined wins list, and currently sits 14th with 83 victories.
• The sophomore has a 40-3 career mark in singles and is four wins away from the top 10 in program history, and her 43-5 record in doubles leaves her six shy of the top 10.

NUMBERS TO KNOW
• Babson is 5-0 when leading after doubles this season and has won 49 straight matches with a lead heading into singles, a streak that extends back to May 1, 2018.
• The Beavers have won 19 of their last 20 regular season matches going back to the start of last season.
