Women's Basketball Set for Showdown Against First-Place Springfield on Saturday

SERIES HISTORY

•    Babson is 34-15 all-time against Springfield in a series that dates back to 1993.
•    The Beavers have won 11 of the last 15 matchups between the teams but are looking to snap a two-game losing streak to the Pride.
•    The home team has won the last seven games between the squads going back to February 2020.
•    The Green and White has won five in a row inside Staake Gymnasium against Springfield since 2019.

LAST MEETING
•    Angela Czeremcha finished with 17 points and 22 rebounds to help the Pride defeat Babson, 58-48, on January 10 in Springfield, Mass. 
•    Lindsay Loughlan added 10 points and Rachel Vinton contributed six points, seven rebounds, five assists and four steals for Springfield, which jumped out to a 19-9 first-quarter lead. 
•    First-year Samantha Reale totaled 11 points, six rebounds and three steals and sophomore Allessia Carlo chipped in with 10 points for the Beavers, who shot just 28.1 percent in the loss. 

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
•    Babson (11-11, 5-3 NEWMAC) suffered a 69-63 OT loss at MIT, which snapped its five-game winning streak on Wednesday night. 
•    Reale scored 14 points, sophomore Chloe Perreault added 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting and junior Camilla Silk posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Beavers, who 53-45 with 1:57 to go in the fourth quarter. 
•    Junior Katelyn Mollica (12.6 pts, 3.0 reb, 2.0 ast) ranks fourth in the NEWMAC with 57 three-pointers, Reale (9.3 pts, 3.7 reb) has scored in double figures in seven of the last 10 games and Perreault (7.0 pts, 6.6 reb) is shooting 48.2 percent from the field on the year. 
•    The Green and White ranks second in the conference in field goal defense (34.7 percent) and is third in scoring defense allowing just 56.9 points. 

SCOUTING THE PRIDE
•    Springfield (18-4, 7-1 NEWMAC) has won six consecutive games after rallying for a 75-59 victory at Salve Regina on Wednesday night. 
•    Amanda Leary finished with 28 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists, Czeremcha added 12 points and 10 boards and Vinton chipped in with 12 points and nine steals for the Pride, which outscored the Seahawks 36-10 in the fourth quarter. 
•    Czeremcha (13.3 pts, 11.1 reb) has posted 10 double-doubles and leads the conference in rebounding, Vinton (11.8 pts, 5.4 reb, 4.0 ast, 2.7 steals) ranks among the top six in the league in assists and steals and Leary (10.4 pts, 4.0 reb) is averaging 18.7 points on 47.6 percent shooting over the last three games. 
•    Springfield ranks first in the NEWMAC in scoring defense (54.2 points) and third in rebounding margin (+8.8). 

REWRITING THE RECORD BOOKS
•    Mollica's first-quarter three-pointer on Wednesday at MIT was her 57th of the year and set a new single-season record, surpassing the previous mark of 56 set by Joanna Maher '03 back in 2001-02.
•    Her 112 three-pointers are the most over two seasons by any player in Babson history and through 54 games she ranks fourth all-time in made triples. 

REALE NAMED NEWMAC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
•    After matching her season highs with six boards and four steals at Wheaton on Saturday, Reale was selected as the NEWMAC Defensive Player of the Week on Monday. 
•    In wins over Wellesley and the Lyons, she averaged 3.0 steals and 4.5 rebounds while helping the Beavers hold their foes to 36.4 percent shooting. 

STREAKING BEAVERS
•    The Green and White has totaled at least 11 assists in six consecutive games and dished out 17 dimes on 26 made field goals at MIT on Wednesday.
•    Mollica has knocked down at least one three-pointer while dishing out at least two assists in six straight outings. 
•    Perreault has grabbed five or more rebounds in each of the last nine games.
•    Silk has grabbed at least one offensive board in nine straight contests, which includes pulling down 14 over the last six games. 

TOUGH ON D
•    In 13 games going back to December, the Beavers have held 10 opponents below 40 percent shooting and have given up more than 65 points just three times. 
•    Babson has held 10 of its 13 foes to below 30 percent shooting from three-point range and is allowing just 0.83 points per possession during this stretch.

PLAYOFF PUSH
•    The Beavers enter Saturday's contest tied with Coast Guard for fourth place in the NEWMAC standings, two games behind Springfield, Smith and MIT, which are tied for first at 7-1.
•    Babson can secure a spot in the upcoming conference tournament  on Saturday with a win over the Pride and an Emerson loss to Wheaton.

NUMBERS TO KNOW
•    In nine home games this winter, the Beavers have allowed more than 60 points just twice.
•    Babson is 9-0 this season when leading at halftime.
•    The Green and White is 8-2 on the year when shooting at least 40 percent.
•    Babson is 8-1 this season when outscoring its foes at the free throw line.
