Women's Hoops Travels to Cambridge to Face MIT on Wednesday Night

SERIES HISTORY

•    Babson is 58-13 all-time against MIT in a series that dates back to the 1976-77 campaign.
•    The Beavers have won eight of their last 10 games against the Engineers, which includes six victories by six points or less. 
•    The Green and White has won its last 11 games inside Rockwell Cage with each of the last four victories coming by fewer than six points. 
•    The road team has won nine of the last 12 games between the teams since 2016. 

LAST MEETING
•    Senior Kelly Walsh scored 11 of her team-high 20 points in the third quarter and added five steals to help the Beavers defeat MIT, 77-66, in a NEWMAC Tournament semifinal on February 24, 2023, in Babson Park. 
•    Samantha Smith '23 finished with 19 points and nine rebounds and Megan Bauman '23 added 15 points and four assists for Babson, which broke a 30-30 halftime tie by opening the third quarter with a 21-9 run. 
•    Kamsi Nwogu posted a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds and Angie Choi knocked down four three-pointers and scored 18 points to lead the Engineers, who pulled back within three with just under eight minutes to play. 

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
•    Babson (11-10, 5-2 NEWMAC) has won five consecutive games after defeating Wheaton, 63-55, on the road on Saturday. 
•    Junior Camilla Silk scored a career-high 19 points and first-year Samantha Reale finished with 10 points, six rebounds and four steals for the Beavers, who led by as many as 17 late in the third quarter. 
•    Junior Katelyn Mollica (12.9 pts, 3.1 reb) is shooting 40.6 percent from beyond the arc, Reale (9.1 pts, 3.7 reb, 1.5 stl) has scored in double figures in six of the last nine contests and sophomore Chloe Perreault (6.8 pts, 6.7 reb) leads the team in rebounding and is shooting 47 percent from the floor. 
•    The Green and White ranks 17th in Division III in three-point field goal percentage (34.4) and ranks second in conference play in field goal defense (36.6 percent) and third in rebounding margin (+5.3). 

SCOUTING THE ENGINEERS
•    MIT (15-6, 6-1 NEWMAC) has won seven of its last eight games after picking up a 72-59 victory at Coast Guard on Saturday. 
•    Christina Antonakakis poured in 25 points on 10-of-17 shooting, Nwogu added 14 points and nine rebounds and Elise Harvey scored 13 points off the bench for the Engineers, who led by as many as 19 midway through the fourth quarter. 
•    Antonakakis (16.8 pts, 3.0 ast) ranks second in the conference in scoring and sixth in Division III with 64 three-pointers, Choi (15.5 pts, 4.1 reb, 2.5 stl) ranks fifth in the NEWMAC in scoring and second in steals, and Nwogu (12.6 pts, 9.5 reb) is shooting 55.7 percent and leads the league with 11 double-doubles. 
•    MIT ranks second in NEWMAC play in scoring offense (75.7 points) and fourth in both field goal percentage (42.1) and rebounding margin (+4.0). 

REALE NAMED NEWMAC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
•    After matching her season highs with six boards and four steals at Wheaton on Saturday, Reale was selected as the NEWMAC Defensive Player of the Week on Monday. 
•    In wins over Wellesley and the Lyons, she averaged 3.0 steals and 4.5 rebounds while helping the Beavers hold their foes to 36.4 percent shooting. 

MOLLICA MATCHES SINGLE-SEASON THREE-POINT MARK
•    Thanks to a first-quarter triple at Wheaton on Saturday, Mollica set a new career high and equaled the single-season record of 56 three-pointers set by Joanna Maher '03 back in 2021-22. 
•    She ranks 21st in Division III in three-point percentage, 23rd in three-point field goals and 27th in three-pointers per game (2.67) this winter. 

STREAKING BEAVERS
•    Babson's five-game winning streak is its longest since December 21-January 21 of last season when it recorded eight straight victories. 
•    The Green and White has totaled at least 11 assists in five consecutive games. 
•    Mollica has knocked down at least one three-pointer while dishing out at least two assists in five straight outings. 
•    Perreault has grabbed five or more rebounds in each consecutive games.
•    Silk has grabbed at least one offensive board in eight straight contests, which includes pulling down 13 over the last five games. 

PLAYOFF PUSH
•    The Beavers enter the final two weeks of the regular season sitting in fourth place just a game behind MIT, Springfield and Smith, who are tied for first at 6-1. 
•    In addition to taking on the Engineers on Wednesday and Springfield on Saturday, Babson will meet Clark, which is a game behind them in the standings at 4-3, in its regular season finale on February 17. 

NUMBERS TO KNOW
•    The Beavers are 8-3 on the year when at least three players score in double figures. 
•    Babson is 10-2 this winter when outrebounding it opponents. 
•    The Green and White is 8-1 when outscoring its foes at the free throw line. 
•    Babson is 9-2 this season when allowing fewer than 60 points.
