Box Score NORTHAMPTON, Mass.—First-year Hannah Martin (North Andover, Mass.) scored 21 points on a career-high seven three-pointers and No. 17/15 Smith College outscored fifth-seeded Babson College 29-11 in the third quarter en route to a 90-59 win in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Tournament final on Sunday afternoon inside Ainsworth Gymnasium. 
Babson, which was playing in its third straight conference final, lost for just the third time over its last 12 games to close the season at 15-13 overall. Smith, which has won 11 consecutive games, claimed its fourth straight NEWMAC title and improves to 25-3 on the year. 
Senior 
Kelly Walsh (Goffstown, N.H.) scored a team-high 15 points on 5-of-10 shooting, while classmate 
Rachel McMenemy (Northborough, Mass.) added a season-high 11 points to pace the Beavers. 
Martin went 7-of-9 from beyond the arc, while senior Jessie Ruffner (Rocklin, Calif.), who was selected as the NEWMAC Tournament Most Outstanding Player, finished with 20 points on 9-of-11 shooting, eight rebounds and five assists to lead the Pioneers. Graduate Sofia Rosa (Sudbury, Mass.) added 11 points in the victory. 
First-year 
Samantha Reale (North Attleboro, Mass.) scored six early points and McMenemy added four, including a jumper from the right wing to keep the Green and White within 13-12 at the end of the first quarter. Junior 
Kiara Simone Davis (Coral Gables, Fla.) and junior 
Katelyn Mollica (Foxborough, Mass.) hit back-to-back three-pointers to pull the Beavers even at 22-22 three minutes into the second, and the deficit was just two after another triple by senior 
Madison Odam (San Jose, Calif.) at the 4:31 mark before Smith seized control with a 25-3 run over the next nine minutes. 
Rosa and senior Ally Yamada (Seal Beach, Calif.) both hit a pair of free throws and Ruffner knocked down an elbow jumper to make it 37-29 at the half, and the Pioneers outscored Babson 15-1 over the first five minutes of the third quarter. Ruffner contributed five points, Yamada added four and Martin canned a pair of three-pointers from the left wing, the second of which gave the hosts a 54-30 advantage with 5:21 to go in the stanza. 
McMenemy and Davis responded with back-to-back hoops to cut the Beavers' deficit to 20 just under a minute later but Smith got consecutive buckets by Ruffner and another left-wing three-pointer from Martin as the lead swelled to 66-38 with 27 seconds to play in the third. The Pioneers shot 71.4 percent (20-of-28) over the final two quarters and led by as many as 32 late in the fourth quarter. 
Babson shot 50 percent in the first half but finished just 39.6 percent for the game and were outrebounded 26-17. Smith knocked down 12-of-18 three-pointers (66.7 percent) and finished with a 38-30 edge in paint scoring. 
GAME NOTES
•    The Beavers are 40-18 all-time against Smith but have dropped six straight games in the series, which includes the last three conference finals. 
•    Babson allowed an opponent to shoot better than 50 percent for just the second time this season and third time in 60 games going back to the start of last year. 
•    The senior class of McMenemy, Odam and Walsh finishes their careers with a record of 72-27, which includes 10 NEWMAC and NCAA Tournament victories. 
•    Walsh ends her career ranked 17th in career points (1,058), fifth in three-point field goals (96) and 19th with 151 steals.
