Alpine Ski Teams Compete at NCAA Regionals

HANCOCK, Vt.—Seven members of the Babson College men's and women's alpine ski teams traveled to the Middlebury Snowbowl to compete in the NCAA Regional Championships on Friday and Saturday.

The top performance for the Babson men in Friday's slalom came from senior Ryan Beardsley (Warren, Vt.), who despite failing to finish his second run posted a first-run time of 50.67. Junior Zach Carpenter (Boulder, Colo.) crossed the finish line in 51.59 seconds on his first trip down the hill and sophomore Sebastian Sheppard (Park City, Utah) was just 0.42 seconds behind him.

Beardsley posted the Beavers' top first-run time (59.86) in Saturday's giant slalom although all three competitors failed to qualify for the second run. Carpenter crossed the finish line in a time of 1:00.03, while sophomore Finn Horsley (Salt Lake City, Utah) was two spots behind him with a time of 1:00.35.

Senior Caroline Haaijer (Fairfield, Conn.) was the lone Babson female to complete her first run in Saturday's slalom, posting a time of 57.35. First-year Ava Butler (Goshen, Conn.) was the Beavers' top finisher in Saturday's giant slalom with a first-run time of 1:04.52, which was 0.78 seconds faster than Haaijer, although neither one qualified for the second run.
