No. 11 Men's Soccer Faces Coast Guard in Regular Season Finale on Saturday

SERIES HISTORY

•    Babson is 42-9-8 all-time against Coast Guard in a series that dates back to 1968.
•    The Beavers are unbeaten in their last five matches (4-0-1) versus the Bears going back to 2018.
•    The Green and White has won the last two meetings in Babson Park outscoring Coast Guard 7-1 and has won eight of the last 10 matches at home between the teams since 2004. 

LAST MEETING
•    Louis Gazo '24 ran onto a long ball by junior Joao Araujo and scored the tying goal in the 81st minute as Babson and Coast Guard finished in a 1-1 draw on October 28, 2023, in New London, Conn. 
•    Senior Walker White finished with four saves and Gazo narrowly missed a chance to put the Beavers ahead in the 82nd minute when he hit the crossbar. 
•    Jayareem Naveen scored his first goal of the season off a corner kick in the ninth minute for the Bears, who got four saves from Wolfgang Pfleghar. 

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
•    No. 11 Babson (11-1-6, 6-0-1 NEWMAC) has won its last four games and secured the league's regular season title with a 2-0 victory at Clark on Wednesday night. 
•    Graduate student James Donaldson scored in the 19th minute, junior James Modiano added a goal in the 67th minute and graduate student Samuel Kalishman and junior Liam Goldstein picked up assists for the Beavers, who got two saves from White. 
•    Graduate student Kento Abe (6-3-15) is tied for second in the conference with four game-winning goals, Donaldson (5-5-15) has a goal in three of the last four matches and senior Liam Rhatigan (5-0-10) has scored four times against NEWMAC foes this fall. 
•    White has started all 18 matches and ranks 18th in Division III with a 0.57 goals against average, is second in the conference with a .818 save percentage and is tied for 12th nationally with eight shutouts. 

SCOUTING THE BEARS
•    Coast Guard (11-4-2, 4-2-1 NEWMAC) had its three-game unbeaten streak snapped with a 1-0 loss to Emerson on Wednesday night. 
•    John Putnam made four of his five saves in the second half for the Bears, who conceded the only goal of the match with just under 10 minutes remaining. 
•    Aki Freeman (7-4-18) has scored a league-high five game-winning goals, Michael O'Brien (4-3-11) has produced five points over the last seven games and Jude Sargent (3-4-10) has done all of his scoring against conference foes. 
•    Putnam is 8-4-1 with a 1.08 goals against average and a .806 save percentage to go along with five clean sheets in 13 starts this fall. 

GOLDSTEIN CLAIMS NEWMAC WEEKLY HONOR
•    For the second time this season, junior Liam Goldstein was tabbed as the league's defensive player of the week on Monday.
•    He the full 90 minutes at center back in consecutive one-goal wins, helping the Beavers allow just one shot on goal in Wednesday's 1-0 victory over Springfield and clearing a scoring chance off the goal line in the 28th minute in Saturday's 2-1 win at MIT.

BACK ON TOP
•    The Beavers, who have not suffered loss in league play dating back to October 2021, secured their second NEWMAC regular season title since 2022 with Wednesday's victory at Clark. 
•    Babson has claimed nine regular season titles over the last 15 seasons dating back to 2008 and owns 12 NEWMAC regular season crowns since 1998. 
•    The Green and White also captured six regular season championships as a member of the Constitution Athletic Conference (CAC) from 1990-97. 

NEWMAC TOURNAMENT NOTES
•    While Babson has already clinched the top seed in next week's tournament, there is still plenty to decide on the final day of the regular season. 
•    Coast Guard (13 points), Salve Regina (12 points) and Springfield (11 points) have all secured a playoff spot and are fighting to finish second and a bye into Thursday's semifinals. 
•    MIT (10 points) and Emerson (7 points) currently own the final two spots in the NEWMAC Tournament, while Wheaton (7 points) can qualify for the postseason with a win over the Engineers. 

STREAKING BEAVERS
•    Babson has scored in the first half of its last six NEWMAC matches and has at least one goal in 10 consecutive league fixtures since its 0-0 draw at Clark on October 25, 2023. 
•    The Beavers are unbeaten in their last 29 conference games (24-0-5) dating back to October 2021. 
•    The Green and White is 7-0-2 on Hartwell-Rogers Field this fall and is unbeaten in its last 14 outings at home dating back to last year. 

NUMBERS TO KNOW
•    Over their last 21 games going back to last year's NEWMAC Tournament, the Beavers have conceded just three first half goals. 
•    Babson has outscored three conference opponents at home 11-0 and has outscored its first seven NEWMAC foes 18-2 this fall. 
•    The Green and White is 22-1-12 over the last two seasons when conceding one goal or less. 
•    The Beavers are 11-0-3 on the year when scoring first and 11-0-6 when they are ahead or tied going into halftime.

•    Babson will host a NEWMAC Tournament semifinal on Thursday afternoon. The game time and potential opponents will be announced following the conclusion of the regular season.
