Evan Eichenlaub (Bethlehem, Pa.) tied for second at 4-under par and classmate
Tomas Amaya (Singer Island, Fla.) and first-year
Aman Vantipalli (Alpharetta, Ga.) joined him in the top 10 as the 21st-ranked Babson College men's golf team placed fourth at the West Pines Collegiate at West Pines Golf Club.
The Beavers posted a final round score of 12-over 296 to finish at 20-over 872 over 54 holes. No. 4 Oglethorpe recorded the low round of the tournament with a 12-over 272 on Tuesday to finish at 2-under 850, which was five shots better than No. 8 Lynchburg. Mississippi University for Women was third with a 12-over total of 864, while Berry came in fifth at 868.
Eichenlaub, who fired a 6-under 65 in the second round on Monday afternoon, made up for three early bogeys with birdies on No. 9, No. 13 and No. 17 to post a 71 that left him in a three-way tie for second with a 54-hole total of 4-under 209. Vantipalli and Amaya both closed with rounds of 2-over 73 to grab a share of ninth place at 2-over 215 for the tournament.
Amaya was 4-over through his first 11 holes before making birdies on a pair of par 5s, Nos. 13 and 17, while Vantipalli played his first nine holes in 3-under and was 2-under on the day before finishing his day with a quadruple bogey on the par-4 first hole.
Senior
John Baldwin (Little Compton, R.I.) shot a final round 79 and finished in a tie for 69th place at 20-over. Sophomore
Ian Rourke (Danvers, Mass.) carded an 85 on Tuesday and tied for 95th overall and 30-over.
Babson will conclude the fall portion of its schedule at the Golfweek October Classic in Miramar Beach, Fla., beginning on Sunday.
TOURNAMENT NOTES
• Eichenlaub has finished in a tie for second place in back-to-back tournaments and has registered four straight top-five showings going back to the final event of the 2023-24 campaign.
• Babson now owns five top-four finishes in six trips to Oglethorpe's fall tournament, which was previously called the Royal Lakes-Oglethorpe Invitational.
• Amaya tied for first (6-under) and Vantipalli tied for third (5-under) in par-5 scoring, which Eichenlaub (1-under) was one of three players to finish under par on the par 3s.
• Vantipalli and Eichenlaub tied for first place with 14 birdies over 54 holes the last two days.
