No. 11 Men's Soccer Hosts Salve Regina Saturday, Hits the Road to Face No. 4 Middlebury Sunday

WHAT TO KNOW

•    No. 11 Babson beings the stretch run of the regular season with a key NEWMAC match on Saturday afternoon followed by its final non-conference fixture of the year on Sunday. 
•    The Beavers host fellow conference unbeaten Salve Regina to conclude a three-game homestand before heading to No. 4 Middlebury on Sunday afternoon. 
 
SERIES HISTORY
vs. Salve Regina

•    The Beavers are 8-0 all-time against Salve Regina in a series that dates back to 2000. 
•    Babson has won all four of its matches at home against the Seahawks and got a goal from Louis Gazo '24 in the 84th minute to record a 1-0 victory last season in Newport, R.I., in the first contest between the sides as conference foes. 
•    Last year's match was the first between the teams since 2007. 

Vs. Middlebury
•    Babson is 7-4-6 against the Panthers dating back to 1979. 
•    Sunday's match is the first between the sides since the 2010 NCAA Tournament sectional semifinals, a 1-0 Middlebury win, and the first regular season contest since 1997. 
•    The Beavers own a 3-2-2 record on the road in the all-time series and last faced the Panthers in Vermont back in 1992. 

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
•    No. 11 Babson (6-0-6, 1-0-1 NEWMAC) has won two consecutive games after defeating Suffolk, 1-0, on Tuesday afternoon. 
•    Senior Lyndon Way and junior Joao Araujo helped set up a goal by senior Matias Gutierrez just 3:04 into the match and the Beavers did not allow a shot on target while posting their sixth shutout of the year. 
•    Graduate student James Donaldson (2-4-8) picked up a pair of assists in last Saturday's win over Emerson, sophomore Alexander Yablonovskiy (3-1-7) has scored in two of the last three games, and the trio of Araujo (2-2-6), graduate student Kento Abe (2-2-6) junior Liam Goldstein (2-1-5) has produced three goals and four assists over the last four matches. 
•    Senior goalkeeper Walker White has started all 12 matches and boasts a 0.51 goals against average and a .818 save percentage to go along with five clean sheets. 

SCOUTING THE SEAHAWKS
•    Salve Regina (5-6-1, 1-0-1 NEWMAC) has lost just once over its last five matches and is coming off a 3-1 win over Westfield State on Tuesday night. 
•    Daniel Goba recorded a goal and an assist and Danny Bond and Brandon Frank each scored once for the Seahawks, who got one second-half save from Nick Giorgi after taking the lead for good in the 51st minute. 
•    Goba (8-3-19) has scored in five of the last six games and leads the NEWMAC in points, Jordan Borges (3-5-11) is second in the conference in assists, and Frank (2-1-5) and Hunter Schultz (2-0-4) both have one game-winning goal on the year. 
•    Adonis Santiago has started both of Salve Regina's first two league matches and is 3-1-1 with a 0.41 goals against average and a .714 save percentage to go along with two shutouts in five appearances on the season. 

SCOUTING THE PANTHERS
•    No. 4 Middlebury (8-0-2), which hosts Colby on Saturday, has won its last two games after defeating Bridgewater State, 2-0, on Tuesday afternoon. 
•    Gavin Randolph opened the scoring in the 57th minute and Colin Dugan buried a penalty kick in the 74th minute for the Panthers, who outshot the Bears and got four saves from Joey Waterman to extend their regular season unbeaten streak to 25 matches. 
•    Randolph (5-2-12) leads the team with three game-winning goals, Eduardo Casanova (3-4-10) is tied for the team lead in assists, and Dugan (4-2-10) and Keagan Harder (4-1-9) have combined to produced five goals over the last four games. 
•    Waterman has started all 10 matches and owns a 0.53 goals against average and a .800 save percentage to go along with five shutouts. 

RHATIGAN, LLOYD SWEEP NEWMAC WEEKLY HONORS
•    Senior Liam Rhatigian was tabbed as the league's offensive player of the week, while sophomore Will Lloyd collected NEWMAC Defensive Player of the Week accolades from the NEWMAC on Monday. 
•    Rhatigan recorded his first career brace in the win over Emerson and Lloyd helped the Beavers post their fifth shutout of the year in addition to Tuesday's 1-1 draw at No. 2 Tufts. 

HONORING "WILD" WILL
•    Will McHugh, who is better known as Wild Will of Westwood, joined the Babson men's soccer program in 2014 through Team IMPACT and will be honored prior to the start of Saturday's match. 
•    Will, who suffers from Lissencephaly, is a fixture on the sidelines during games with his parents Bill and Donna, and has been a part of the program's five NCAA Tournament appearances over the last eight years.
•    This year, the Babson coaches, players, families and friends are raising money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation in honor of Will and are currently at more than $7,000. 

STREAKING BEAVERS
•    Babson is unbeaten in 21 consecutive regular season games (10-0-11) going back to September 27 of last year. 
•    The Green and White is 10-0-6 in its last 15 games in the month of October, a run that stretches back to 2022. 
•    The Beavers are 8-0-4 in their last 11 home fixtures going back to October 3 of last season. 
•    Babson also is unbeaten in 13 consecutive road games, a streak that dates back to September 14 of last year. 
•    The Beavers are riding a 24-game unbeaten streak against NEWMAC foes (19-0-5) going back to October 30, 2022. 

OLD FRIENDS ON THE OTHER SIDE
•    Head coach Jon Anderson '75 will be going against a pair of former assistant coaches when the Beavers take on Salve Regina and Middlebury. 
•    Bill Lawler '98, who ranks fourth in Babson history with a .859 save percentage, is currently the interim head coach of the Seahawks following three stints as an assistant coach for the Green and White (1998-99, 2003, 2017-22). 
•    Tim Peng, who is now an assistant coach for the Panthers, served as an assistant coach for the Beavers from 2018-22. 

NUMBERS TO KNOW
•    Babson has gone into halftime with the lead or tied in 15 straight games going back to last year. 
•    The Beavers are 4-0 this season and 28-1-1 when scoring at least two goals over the last four seasons. 
•    The Green and White is 17-1-12 over the last two years when conceding one goal or fewer. 
•    Babson has conceded just one first-half goal in its last 15 games dating back to the 2023 conference tournament.
