Women's Volleyball Carries Eight-Match Winning Streak into Midweek Tests Against Wellesley and Endicott

WHAT TO KNOW

•    Babson women's volleyball concludes a four-match homestand with back-to-back mid-week matches. 
•    The Beavers host crosstown rival Wellesley for a  NEWMAC contest on Tuesday and welcome three-time defending CCC champions Endicott to Staake Gymnasium on Wednesday. 

SERIES HISTORY
vs. Wellesley

•    Babson is 10-34 all-time against Wellesley in a series that dates back to 1980. 
•    The Beavers have won eight of the last 10 matches between the teams with both losses coming in five sets. 
•    The Green and White has won its last six outings against Wellesley at home going back to 2014. 

vs. Endicott 
•    Babson is 11-9 all-time against the Gulls in a series that goes back to 1980. 
•    The teams have split their last eight matches since 2015 with all but one contest having been decided in either four or five sets. 
•    The Beavers are 2-2 all-time against Endicott inside Staake Gymnasium, which includes victories in the most recent meetings in Babson Park in 2017 and 2019. 

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
•    Babson (11-1, 2-0 NEWMAC) has won eight consecutive matches and is coming off a 3-1 victory over Colby on Saturday. 
•    Senior Erin Gray recorded a career-high 16 kills, junior Lauren Gips added 12 kills and five blocks and first-year Zoe Ackerman contributed 42 assists and 15 digs for the Beavers, who took the final three sets. 
•    First-year Allison Molendyk ranks sixth in the NEWMAC in kills per set (3.14), Gray is averaging 3.00 kills per set and Gips is contributing 2.72 kills and 1.09 blocks per set to go along with a .418 hitting percentage. 
•    Ackerman is averaging 9.56 assists per set over the last six matches, while sophomore Roz Cabuena leads the Green and White in both digs per set (4.18) and aces per set (0.62). 

SCOUTING THE BLUE
•    Wellesley (8-2, 2-0 NEWMAC) stretched its winning streak to eight matches by defeating Wheaton, 3-0, on Saturday. 
•    First-year Kate Giang led all players with 12 kills, classmate Madeline Zornek totaled 31 assists and sophomore Kiaja Kunze-Hoeg added 23 digs, which hit .265 in the third set. 
•    Giang (3.43 k/s, 2.41 d/s) ranks third in the NEWMAC in kills, first-year Evelyn Hill (1.96 k/s) is hitting .225 and senior Kate Salembier is averaging 1.86 kills per set. 
•    Zornek and first-year Noelle Winn have combined to dish out 10.79 assists per set, while Kunze-Hoeg ranks second in the conference averaging 5.06 digs per set. 

SCOUTING THE GULLS
•    Endicott (5-6) snapped a three-match losing streak with a 3-0 sweep of Hartford on Saturday. 
•    First-year Hadley Helenbrook finished with 15 kills, sophomore Kelsey Sanborn hit .533 and recorded eight kills, and junior Savannah Campbell chipped in with 20 assists and five service aces for the Gulls, who made a season-low eight attack errors. 
•    Sophomore Julia Giroux, who is averaging a team-high 3.26 kills per set, has missed the last three matches, grad student Krystina Schueler (2.69 k/s) is hitting .316 and Helenbrook is contributing 2.60 kills and 2.23 digs per set. 
•    Campbell is averaging 8.84 assists to go along with a team-high 23 service aces, while junior Emma Ruel leads the squad in digs (136) and digs per set (3.78). 

STRONG RETURNS
•    Gips, who missed seven consecutive matches, returned to the lineup last Tuesday at Emerson and has contributed 37 kills and 16 blocks while averaging 2.64 kills and 1.14 blocks per set to go along with a .370 hitting percentage over her last three outings.
•    Cabuena came back from a four-match absence by totaling 44 digs and averaging 4.89 digs per set in Saturday's victories over Coast Guard and Colby. 

HITTING THEIR STRIDE
•    After hitting .200 or better just twice of their first six matches, the Beavers are hitting .211 over their last six contests and have hit at least .200 five times during this stretch. 
•    The Green and White has recorded at least 42 kills in each of its last six matches while averaging 12.28 kills per set. 

BEAVER BITES
•    Cabuena recorded 19 digs and sophomore Isabella Allen (7), Gray and junior Lauren Griffin (5) and Gips and senior Lulu McShane (4) were part of a group of seven players that registered four or more kills in last year's win over Wellesley. 
•    Allen and Gips both finished with nine kills and Stelter and senior Olivia Leinenweber contributed 11 digs apiece in the Beavers' four-set loss last October to Endicott. 
•    Gray has put away at least six kills in every match this fall and has 10 or more kills in four straight outings. 

NUMBERS TO KNOW
•    Babson is 4-0 at home this season and 119-16 inside Staake Gymnasium since the arrival of head coach Eric Neely in 2011. 
•    The Beavers are 47-4 in the month of September since 2019.
•    The Green and White is 29-0 over the last two seasons when winning the opening set. 
•    Going back to 2019, Babson is 72-3 when holding its opponents to a hitting percentage of .150 or lower.
