SERIES HISTORY
• Babson is 14-23 all-time against UMass Dartmouth in a series that dates back to 1976.
• Despite dropping back-to-back games in the series, the Beavers have won eight of their last 13 games against the Corsairs.
LAST MEETING
• DJ Perron and Matt Tempone both hit two-run homers and Andrew Bryant added a solo blast as UMass Dartmouth defeated the Beavers, 7-2, on April 4, 2022, in Babson Park.
• Ryan Qualey allowed one over four innings and Adam Horowitz tossed three shutout innings in relief for the Corsairs, who gave up just five hits in the win.
• Senior Michael Cook hit a solo homer and junior Tanner Santos went 2-for-3 with a walk for the Beavers.
SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
• Babson (9-8) has won seven of its last eight games and earned a split of Sunday's doubleheader at Springfield with a 7-4 victory in game two.
• First-year Ryan Hvozdovic went 3-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored, junior Brant Savage singled three times, walked twice and scored a run and Cook tripled and drove in three runs for the Beavers, who scored five times in the second inning.
• Hvozdovic is batting .386 with two doubles, two homers, 11 RBI and 13 runs scored, Savage is hitting .377 with six home runs and 18 runs batted in and Cook boasts a .369 average to go along with three extra-base hits and 13 RBI.
• Junior Tristen Spalter is 2-1 with a 3.34 ERA in 32.1 innings, first-year Connor Doan has gone 0-1 with a 5.73 earned run average in four appearances and senior Stephen McLendon is 1-1 with one save and a 4.22 ERA over 10.2 innings this spring.
SCOUTING THE CORSAIRS
• UMass Dartmouth (11-8) has lost three straight games after getting swept in Sunday's doubleheader at Southern Maine.
• Perron went 2-for-4 with two RBI in a 6-4 game one loss and Adam Maher struck out 11 over 6.0 innings in a 6-2 setback to the Huskies in the nightcap.
• Perron is batting .443 with four doubles, seven home runs, 28 RBI and 17 runs scored, TJ Keefe is hitting .362 with four doubles and 10 runs batted in and Bryant owns a .323 average to go along with seven doubles, 12 RBI and 12 runs scored in 19 starts.
• First-year Braedon Jones (1-1, 12.46 ERA), Will Pacheco (1-1, 9.00 ERA) and Geordan Jackson Murphy (1-2, 11.57 ERA) have each started twice this season for the Corsairs, who own a 1.74 WHIP through 19 games.
LEADERS OF THE PACK
• The Beavers rank second in Division III in WHIP (1.15), walks allowed per nine innings (1.74) and strikeout-to-walk ratio (4.27), and enter the week ranked sixth with a .979 fielding percentage.
• Individually, senior Tim Noone leads all Division III pitchers in WHIP (0.53), ranks third in strikeout-to-walk ratio (18.50) and is sixth and is sixth in hits allowed per nine innings (4.13), while senior Anthony St. John ranks third in walks per nine innings (0.47) and is fifth in strikeout-to-walk ratio (15.00).
STREAKING BEAVERS
• Savage enters the week riding a 14-game hit streak and has reached base safely in all 17 games this season, while junior Tanner Santos also owns a 17-game on-base streak going back to the final game of the 2022 campaign.
• Hvozdovic has at least one hit in four straight outings and has reached base safely in eight straight contests dating back to March 16.
NUMBERS TO KNOW
• The Beavers have committed just four errors over their last eight games while turning five double plays during this stretch.
• Babson has walked at least three times in 13 straight games.
• The Beavers are 7-1 when recording 10 or more hits and 8-2 when finishing with at least two extra-base hits this spring.
