SERIES HISTORY
• Babson is 7-1 all-time against Johnson & Wales in a series that dates back to 2006.
• The Beavers have won two straight games in the series and four scheduled meetings were postponed because of weather from 2013-17.
• Monday's contest will be the first on the banks of the Narragansett Bay since 2018.
LAST MEETING
• Senior Patrick Manning went 4-for-4 with two RBI and three stolen bases and junior Tanner Santos doubled, triple, drove in three runs and scored three times to help the Beavers defeat Johnson & Wales, 12-6, on April 20, 2022, in Babson Park.
• Alex Reynolds '21 M'22 also drove in two runs and sophomore Walter Sadowsky singled twice, scored a pair of runs and had one RBI for Babson, which built a 9-3 lead after four innings.
• Seven different players recorded two hits and graduate student Griffin Snyder and senior Miles Kelly each knocked in a pair of runs for the Wildcats.
SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
• Babson (20-12) suffered a 5-3 loss in the finale of a three-game series with MIT on Saturday afternoon at Govoni Field.
• Junior Brant Savage was 2-for-5 with a double and two RBI and classmate Ike Kiely singled twice and scored a run for the Beavers, who stranded seven runners in scoring position in the loss.
• Savage is batting .352 with eight doubles, 10 home runs, 42 RBI and 33 runs scored, first-year Ryan Hvozdovic is hitting .336 with four doubles, two homers, 24 runs batted in and 23 runs scored, and senior Michael Cook boasts a .336 average to go along with six extra-base hits and 26 runs driven in.
• First-year James Clark is 0-1 with a 4.38 ERA in three starts this spring, sophomore Luke McClintock (0-0, 2.79 ERA) has allowed just one earned run over his last six relief appearances and senior Tim Person is 2-2 with a 4.86 earned run average in 14.2 innings and has not allowed a run over his last eight relief appearances.
SCOUTING THE WILDCATS
• Johnson & Wales (19-13) completed a sweep of Lasell with a 10-1 victory in game two of Saturday's doubleheader.
• Sophomore Xavier Botelho hit a three-run homer, junior EJ Leone added a two-run blast and Kelly finished 2-for-4 with three RBI for the Wildcats, who led 4-1 before exploding for six runs in the top of the ninth.
• Leone is batting .509 with eight doubles, two homers, 20 RBI and 22 runs scored in 15 games since returning from injury on April 7, Kelly is hitting .400 with 16 extra-base hits, 30 runs batted in and 30 runs scored, and sophomore Trevor Juan checks in at .274 with 12 doubles, eight homers, 22 RBI and 27 runs scored.
• Sophomore Justin Markell is 0-2 with a 7.84 ERA in 20.2 innings, first-year Elijah Barber has gone 2-2 with a 6.41 earned run average and 18 strikeouts in 19.2 innings and sophomore Garrett Fusco (2-0, 3.26 ERA) has fanned 23 batters in 19.1 innings out of the bullpen this spring.
A SAVAGE AT THE PLATE
• Savage went 8-for-22 (.364) with three doubles, three homers, 12 RBI, five walks and eight runs scored in five games last week.
• He went deep twice against MIT and set a new career high by driving in six runs in the series opener against the Engineers on Friday.
• Savage also leads the team with 15 multi-hit games and 13 multi-RBI games this spring.
BEAVER BITES
• First-year b, who is batting .333 on the year, enters the week riding a nine-game hitting streak and has at least one knock in 17 of his last 18 starts going back to March 30.
• Senior Jackson Kelly has a base hit in six consecutive outings, while graduate student Jack Pirkl owns a four-game hitting streak and is batting .385 (5-of-13) with a double, three RBI and three runs scored during this stretch.
• Five different players have recorded at least 10 or more multi-hit games this season, a list which includes Hvozdovic (13), Santos (12) and both Cook and Basile with 10.
• Cook (11), Hvozdovic (10) and graduate student Ryan Noone (10) lead the team in two-out RBI.
NUMBERS TO KNOW
• The Beavers are 17-1 this season when scoring six or more runs.
• Babson is 22-1 over the last two season when giving up two runs or fewer.
• The Beavers have gone 18-3 this spring when recording at least two extra-base hits and are 15-1 when finishing with 10 or more hits.
• The Green and White is 18-1 this season and 35-2 going back to the start of last year when leading after seven innings.
• Babson is 7-5 on the road this season, which includes winning six of its last eight games going back to April 2.
